I just repacked driveshaft and jackshaft bearings with amsoil grease....this exact grease recommended from a snowmobile shop...
http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/gwr.aspx
.....put the bearing in the freezer for easier reinstalling on the driveshaft.....
when I pulled the bearing out of the freezer...could hardly turn...
see the low temp torque spec..
now I will be changing to this grease...
http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/ghb.aspx
see the low temp torque spec...
based on my basic calculation...theres about 5 ft lbs of torque differential per bearing at -40....obviously less at higher temps...but imagine the possibilities!

mobil 1 might be a good choice...no low temp torque specs...I've emailed them and will advise

Good point SJ, but I might be concered with the water washout numbers...9.2% I think I might try the AMSOIL Spray Grease. The torque is 1.3 but the water washout is only 1.6% check it out.

not only the torque for bearings....imagine the lack of suspension movement when it these greases require this much torque..

grease
here's what I will use..
for sealed bearings and skid..relatively low water wash with extreme low temp service.

I would think that after a couple of miles the bearing would warm up and in turn would reduce the amount of torque required to move it.

sure it would...to a degree...but my basic test was telling to me....even after warming conciderably it was still harder to turn...
the bigger point is in the skid...some of the half shafts have small amounts of movement...I think the skid will move far more freely ..
