Ok guys, I've been searching for hours, using all kinds of different examples, and I can't find a thread on exactly what is meant by shimming the helix. I am assuming that you are putting a specific size washer between the helix and the post that it bolts to. Post+washer then helix. 2 questions. Where do you get washers that don't interfere with the machined flat on the inner part of the helix and, has anyone tried this with the Pioneer Roller face? When my secondary is in the relaxed position, the rollers are sitting about 1/4 inch down the ramps. I'm thinking I could shim the roller face up, much like the Yammy helix, to raise the the rollers up to near the top of the helix ramp. Remember, with the roller face, the helix is fixed to the sheave, not built into the cover. Any opinions on this or am I way off on my thinking? Thanks for the help and sorry I couldn't find info in a search.

why do you want to shim it?....i have mine shimmed for the reason that i have my PRIMARY CLUTCH CUT.

if you did not cut your primary clutch, there is NOTHING to be had from shimming your 2ndary.

Attached are pics of my shimmed helix...I use a lockwasher( 5/16")

also with most aftermarket yammie helix makers...they build in more room for shiftout then stock yammie helix has....still IMO not needed UNLESS you cut your primary since the belt can only pull down so far into your 2ndary from primary, since it cannot go to top of primary without machining.

Thanks for getting back, RockerDan. There is a difference between what I'm talking about and what you showed. My helix is upside down to what you have. My helix is bolted to the sheave, with the beginning or low end part of the helix facing up. When you shimmed yours, you brought the buttons down the ramp some. My rollers are already 1/4 inch down the ramps. I want to bring the rollers up as close to the pointy part of the helix as I can so it starts out in a lower gear. I think I'm thinking this out right. My clutch looks like an Arctic Cat clutch. Only thing I'm thinking is that it might make it open too quickly?

some of the stock secondary springs were actually coil binding before full shift, thats why myself and a lot of other were adding the washers to space the helix out,i cant remember the color secondary spring that was doing the binding but i was working at a yamaha dealer at the time i bought my 06rtx and someone somewhere had found this problem
