Dan ,When testing go from groomed to ungroomed conditions .Then you''ll see why a straight helix is a must .Agree with Ken...I quick spool tune will allow for more helix(not reverse) I still want to test with mine to see as I have tight trails here, and want to play with my STMs to see how they work together. But do believe a stocker or maybe a 37/35 would work well with orange.

I dont mind buying something steeper too. Just want to do lots of testing first.Dan ,When testing go from groomed to ungroomed conditions .Then you''ll see why a straight helix is a must .
Any guys with quick spool tunes, please post your findings. I just want to be sure to have the snap down low first, then I will go steeper.
I also want to have the dalton secondary spring here too, for back to back testing to the orange TP monster I have.

Dan are you talking about the Dalton orange black secondary spring? I was thinking I might want to try one also because I notice a lot more heat in my clutches this year. Mike Knapp thinks the TP orange is too stiff and causing the heat issues.I dont mind buying something steeper too. Just want to do lots of testing first.

With my TD PT i'm now using the TP orange with a 35 helix ,,When you punch it ,the sled squats and goes and it's a 137 .Talking to Ben ,he even says the 35 is the best with a tune .I dont mind buying something steeper too. Just want to do lots of testing first.

Yeah the orange TP spring is a monster, it tore up my threads on OSP adjuster fast..lolDan are you talking about the Dalton orange black secondary spring? I believe it works awesome for corner to corner and tight trails and snap, but like all clutching its a give n take. Def cannot see it pulling as much top speed as a stock wimpy spring. This is what clutching is all about for me, dialing in what I like most for me and my riding style and trails.
Springs are cheap, and I want to grab a dalton for testing for sure.

Yes certainly with PT tune....With my TD PT i'm now using the TP orange with a 35 helix ,,When you punch it ,the sled squats and goes and it's a 137 .Talking to Ben ,he even says the 35 is the best with a tune .
But with some of these animal tunes out there(dont need a tune argument gang) some are finding we can pull more helix. But that remains to be seen for myself. Ofcourse we lost alot of snow now that Im tuned and ready to test/tune..grrr
I am gonna keep all the goodies in the bag of tricks(clutching box) and see where I end up...

I am a believer in the TP orange for my tune. No I'm not running a reverse helix.

Honestly I think the stock helix can work pretty good but I went to a multi angle to take advantage of the crazy low end grunt of Dave's race tunes. I don't think a degree here or there makes much difference on a boosted SW as long as your primary is keeping the rpms in check.

So steve, has anyone at STM stated they have or had any problem with there supertip weights,i have there 60ys and have a very bad bushing,it fell out of the hells hole it is suppose to be pressed into, when I heated up my screws to remove the screws to add a washer in the heel area,it fell out,and had shrunk up so much I could not get the stock pin through it,without grinding down the pin, some 17 thou,to get it in,man what a job,i could not believe what a job it was.stock secondary spring not enough when boosted and/or more helix...
as to the hurricane weights...there was some of the first versions (none to my knowledge are stm super tips) that had bushing issues ....dave posted something recently to contact him..and also for your flash update

I ran supertips in my Viper and have another set now for my Winder. I've never had to heat them up to get the screws out. I will say the wrench they send with them is either the wrong size all together or just a piece of Chinese junk. Never seemed to fit right so I just didn't use it. I'd say the heat messed up your bushing not a problem with the weights or bushing itselfSo steve, has anyone at STM stated they have or had any problem with there supertip weights,i have there 60ys and have a very bad bushing,it fell out of the hells hole it is suppose to be pressed into, when I heated up my screws to remove the screws to add a washer in the heel area,it fell out,and had shrunk up so much I could not get the stock pin through it,without grinding down the pin, some 17 thou,to get it in,man what a job,i could not believe what a job it was.

They recommend using red locktight, which I find needs heat to release, and have run these weights a lot in past, and always used heat to get screws out,and never had an issue till now.I ran supertips in my Viper and have another set now for my Winder.
