Shock Refresh Time

Here is a good one. Shock had way too fast rebound when ridden then when removed and disassembled look what I found! Yep that water in oil will separate and freeze. Took out Wiper and O-ring backer too with it. Chunk of Ice in shock is not good!

While I understand this guy might need a little more then a refresh... I was always under the understanding that shocks should be stored over long period in the extended position and not compressed... is this correct???

Would the best time to recharge and revalve ideally be just before the season starts???

Two technical aspects of sledding I haven’t fully grasped yet is clutching and anything related to shocks...

I prefer to cycle the shocks during off season to keep seals pliant and lubed. Also like to do in spring since when sitting oil and water seperate and pure water can then rust insides. I put my sled away ready to ride when snow comes.
