Maybe skidoo and yamaha need to make a baby, and poach some cat engineers to keep the front down.
I'd be a buyer for that. The SW would be for sale instantly.

My guess is that whatever new chassis Acat has will be for two strokes while the 4 strokes stay in the current chassis with power steering, ATAC, etc. If they make a few more improvements as suggested on this forum the small nagging issues can be engineered out of it. I suspect the current 4 stroke chassis will be around for a while. That chassis has had continuous small improvements for several years. I cannot imagine the 998 motor in a lighter chassis. The boosted guys that inhabit this forum would probably hook it hard and twist it like pretzel in no time. LOL
The bigger question I have is if Yamaha has any interest in helping Acat engineer a new two stroke to expand the Yamaha line up. They already have badged sleds with cat motors in them. Badge and engine sharing is as old as the snowmo business. I think about the last new Sno Jet I bought. It said Kawaski on the hood under the Sno Jet name with a very nice Yamaha motor in it. It was a more fun trail sled than my 1976 SRX. LOL

Too bad Yamaha went to bed with Cat. Had they gone with Polaris that might have been a better choice. I really don’t think Doo would have been interested at all since they had very little to gain. Cat has been a disaster for Yamaha and I personally don’t think Yamaha will be in the sled business much longer. For that matter Cat is barely hanging on so keep those Winders maintained because there may not be many in the future.

So many brands back then, it was hard to keep up with all brands. My guess is that whatever new chassis Acat has will be for two strokes while the 4 strokes stay in the current chassis with power steering, ATAC, etc. If they make a few more improvements as suggested on this forum the small nagging issues can be engineered out of it. I worked at a Cat dealer for a couple of years during the mid 70’s, back when every Kawasaki engine put in Arctic cats, needed a Center seal warranty replacement during that era. They also sold other brands, but I remember when I left, They had just received a Kawasaki snowmobile. All aluminum chassis, slide rail suspension and shocks on the metal skis. The part that I really liked about it was the motor, it was a Sachs, which was my favorite 2 stroke until the newer Yamaha 2 strokes came out. After that year electronic ignition was all the rage, and then all rubber tracks, EFI, etc!
Things sure have changed with the now ONLY 4 manufacturers left. Or maybe 3.5 with Yamacat now.

The majority of the 900r are going under 110mph gps. More like 107-108mph on GPS.
They are beside themselves in the groups. Expecting the Mach to be the fastest sled out there. Idk....not my problem. I honestly feel bad for them....
And the aftermarket is jumping in deep. With all kinds of expensive fixes. Motec $4500, injectors, turbos, racing fuel, etc. Just to boost output to 275+/-.
Which I believe is getting dangerously close to catastrophic failure.

Guess we will never know how the mini z sled would hold up to 300hp on the trails everyday.

Anyone hear of a turbo viper racing one?
Would be curious to see how well a mpi or hurricane turbo viper would do against one.
My bet would be on the viper

Nobody has snow to really run these things yet.
I have a FULL report coming with honest trail sleds lining up like Regular Joe's.
JUST NEED SNOOOOOW!!!!!!!!!!
I'm going to do a compete evaluation, with multiple friends' opinions also, to keep it real. Hope my DRAGY comes in.
As much as i like to be first at end of lake or rail bed, it's actually rare & my skinny arse corner to corner is where the OCDman shines.
I was VERY fortunate & actually HONORED to ride the Winder up in my territory where it was KING.
SMOOOOTH & Predictable.
Vermont, New Hampshire & Lower Maine are good for 2-Smokes, but from Rangeley to Moosehead to Baxter to the County is all SIDEWINDER TERRITORY.
I'm hoping my new sled will be the same.
Will i beat a Winder? Most likely not.
Will i beat it corner to corner? Most likely yes.
Will i be happy? Seriously?.................anything on snow, that doesn't BREAK & OCD is happy!
P.S: I'm still betting a STOCK Winder is gonna have to catch me to take me.
P.S2: Notice every time i mention a Winder i put "Stock" in front of it. Cuz 8 guys are gonna chime in how their Blankety Blank Tune with Blankety Blank clutch set up will kick every Doo's arse...........DON'T forget this is a "SHOOTOUT" post which is about STOCK sleds.
P.S3: The High Performance Stuff for the new DOO is gonna be EXPENSIVE since it's all stand alone stuff for now. We're talking 4-$5000
SNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWW !!!
