Sidewinder Helix

Going to need DETAILS on these helix results. When we get these to try
Clutch weights, both springs(secondary, primary).. Secondary spring wind, boosted or stock.

All right BREAK!!!!

Lol. I will post my results

Said I wasn't going to touch the clutch but here we go again.

I ordered a straight 35 as well just to c if it has better machining than the Yamaha 35. I'm sure the flat spots on my rollers are contributing to a loss on top end but will c.

First I will try new rollers with current setup to c if rpms are maintained. If not I will slap on the 37/33. One thing at a time!

A reverse angle helix is where a turbo really wakes up.

You start with a shallow start, the sled revs quick because of the shallow start angle and as you build boost, the power comes on and the steeper angle puts the power to the ground.

Here's what I just did on my Viper:

OSP turbo, 7 psi boost.
Thunder Big Venom clutch kit, but now with a reverse angle 40/46 helix.
Results are in....It pulls the front end and just keeps going and pulling.

There are actually more different ones ( angle options) available now. Of course, since it is early there is lots of testing going on. We have already added more options as people have ordered them throughout the list. As usual, there is a wide variance, as some people prefer different parts in the rest of their clutch recipe....different flyweights, spring pressures, torsion settings, etc. Sometimes a little difference in one part of that package on both clutches means a different helix is most efficient after testing. ...let alone gearing or hp differences that require a different rate of shift.

We always find it interesting that when a tuner guy "wants to use a certain thing that has always worked for him"....they will change everything else in the whole system many times to make sure that the favorite part is still there,lol...whether it be a favorite set or type of weights, a favorite zone of helix, or favorite spring that "always works"

all part of the fun of dialing in to your liking and loving what you have accomplished with your sled .

Everything in the clutch is a contributing factor. With everything stock in the SW clutch, a reverse angle helix would definitely not work for me.

Once I test my new primary weight this might change, but we'll have to see.

I went with the 37/33 helix and Qay 66 dalton weights on my stock rtx le

The sled rips out of the hole and has transformed it into a real fun sled on the trail. Real snappy feeling!

Rode 200 miles with this setup and have very consistent rpms in all conditions I was in. Very happy so far.

Clutches are clean with this setup even with multiple wot pulls. We were on hard pack, ice and some breaking trail situations. Even Took it up to 114 mph on gps on one lake and rpms were perfect. 8750-8900

The weights made the biggest difference as far as bottom to mid range fun.

I went out with the stock weights and got 107 mph gps on top on my test strip. Changed weights and got 109 mph in same conditions.

Very happy with this setup so far!

Reverse angle helix tested this past weekend. Results are 128, 125 and 127mph GPS on the sidewinder with Stage 4 EVO flash on perfect setup hardpack. Worked great on SW and on turbo Viper

Cat-walking like no tomorrow (even down hill believe it or not....see picture) and pull the skis even after 104mph on any kind of trail condition.

NOS-Pro, the top speeds posted are the side winder or viper? Also is sidewinder still stock? If it is, thats some serious speeds! Never mind NOS, I see on another thread you are tuned up.

Sorry about that, this was on my Sidewinder which has EVO stage 4 flash.

But, my turbo Viper was also in the 126mph range....but top speed was the Sidewinder

sorry for my ignorance but what is a EVO stage 4 flash and what does it consist of

Evolution Powersports sells a performance flash for the sidewinder ECU. Basically reprograms the ECU and adds timing and fuel which stage 4 adds huge horsepower!

Many different stages 0-4 and now they are working on flashes with new injectors to add even more hpr.

35/39
