I will also add I truly believe the sight glass falling out is a manufacturing issue. I’m guessing some underpaid worker either forgot the adhesive or didn’t put enough in when installing sight glass. Sucks for sure. A lot of issues really need to be cleaned up by Yamaha on these. HELLO anyone listening???

As I've posted here before, mine fell out of my 18 with under 100 miles on it. There was no adhesive on it at all. I think it just wasn't shoved in far enough from new. A groove machined in there to hold a snap ring would be nice, but that is another process in the assembly line and additional costs.
There will be no recall because they are only related to safety issues, but an update of some sort to prevent this would be nice.

What bothers me is the lack of change on the ProCross over the last 9 years.
I agree if one Sight Glass falls out, they wouldn't have to change design, but when 100's fall out including every consumer bitchin' for 9 years, you'd think there would be a change.
I've never had a dipstick fall out! Although i have ridden all day without one when i forgot to put it back in.

I agree the rollover valve is a major issue and i would bet it's Yamaha's design, but we wouldn't have the crappy ROV if we didn't have an oil tank GLUED on.

It’s not a great design I will agree. But this is not that common of a problem. This has been on EVERY procross chassis since 2012. Think how many sleds that is? Not making any excuses for cat or Yamaha. By the way it says Yamaha on my sled. I’m betting the roll over valve is the single biggest issue on the sidewinder hands down. Must be cat valve right? Lol

I hear ya - but changing the next model year and improving it would be admittance of a poor design or even a mistake. Can’t have that ( sarcasm).
They seem content soldiering along on the back of the customer. Look how long they fumbled with the ecu on the viper. Took a great sled and made it flounder. It’s up to us I guess to use high temp silicone and seal the inner and outer sight glass. Not happy about it but better do it to avoid a major catastrophe

ECU on viper is a joke. How can you be the four stroke engine king and have the viper idle like sh%^. And not cold start. I have s buddy I ride with a lot of miles a year - over 2k. His viper sounds terrible at idle and cold starts are absolutely terribleI hear ya - but changing the next model year and improving it would be admittance of a poor design or even a mistake. The Viper ECU debacle was a myth to everyone.
Yamaha had the Nytro motor dialed in then they let some one else tune it. I don't blame Cat for that. I blame yamaha for that one!

Thanks. Yup my buddies sled is going in for that flash. Hope it works. Really dissatisfied with run quality on that motor. Really amazes me as it’s a great bullet proof motor. Been around forever and then it just idles like crap all of a sudden after how years? Strange to me.Viper has new ECU mapping for 2020 just FYI.

What changed on this chaincase, Cat has been making these for 7 seasons now.
It’s an Arctic Cat POS!
They always have had major issues they never fix for years and years. Remember the older Cat primary clutches that the weight bushings wore out in 3000 miles? Literally junk plastic bushings that retail for 75 cents. Leave you stranded in the woods, but they insisted it wasn’t a problem. They used the same junk bushings for over 10 years. My buddy changed his out with $1 bronze bushings and they lasted 12k miles.
You gotta love these Cat guys coming over here blaming Yamaha for all the problems these sleds have had and claiming they are gas-n-go.

Absolutely I agree. I have a low tolerance for false and misleading information. The ECU, rollover valve, Chain case and chassis We’re not Yamaha engineered. You have been a little overly wound lately.. we may want to take a deep breath.
That said I’m most unhappy that Yamaha has allowed this substandard quality into their product line.
Just need to get that off my chest

Noted!!! but we all have those same thoughts and if we all just bitch about it we will never help anyone and I will get tired of reading my own site. I already cant stand most of the #*$&@ hats out on the trail that think they are snow crossers with that little back pack let alone the #*$&@ heads that are on the highway thinking that they own the road and on top that im just about had it with the Facebook know-it-alls who #*$&@ in everyone's Wheaties..I am just about ready to pull the plug. WOW, I do feel better. Thanks

Oh man Mr. Sled I know exactly how you feel. When we start to yell "you kids get off my lawn" we'll know were getting to old for all this crap.
