Here it is: Star suspension modified shock for singleshot

Same shock , reservoir removed and revalved with just about no pressure,
added a spring for rebound and better progression...

nobody has much experience yet with this setup, i just caught a glimpes of it at my local dealer.. for another client..

Looks good. I guess you would just run min psi to keep it sealed and help bottoming? Or do these new floats not go flat if you don't run min air psi? Curios as to how well it works as I thought about a new sled with that skid in it

it seems they are running very low psi..nobody tried this setup except star suspension but they can surely answer questuions if you call em up

Really sad that Yamaha still can't build a skid. Plus I've heard nothing but bad news about Fox Floats. Cat went away from them on their 2016 sleds for a reason.

There's not enough room between the relay rods for that spring to fit in there. This picture sure looks like a joke!

This may sound crazy but has anyone played with track tension on this skid? If this skid moves like the ZX2 from AD boivin then a track that is too tight greatly effects the ride of the skid. The rear wheel moves back on some skids, tightening the track the farther it strokes. The track tightens too far upon compression making it seem like it is stiff, then releases upon rebound making the rebound far too quick. It in effect acts like a giant rubber band. I had to run my track pretty loose on that skid to get it to move freely.
Just a thought.

I would think your right, but by that logic you physically can't use any coilover shocks on the singleshot. Only these pos floats. Personally I would try them in a skid as that's where they have the most promise of working well. But I'm sure I would have a dual stage spring on axis or elka shock within the first year or after the first season was over. And I can't imagine a coilover not fitting.

Was meaning I would try the stock float for a trip or 2 before determining that it's as horriable as all the ones I've ridden on the front of sleds lol

Def wouldn't waste money ($200+I'm guessing) to make a float a coilover. Sell float for $300 and spend $450 on a real shock

I drove a guys from the website and I was impressed with how well it pounded thru the rough stuff.. its not as plush as a money but it works well.

Probably the trade off they made. Better in rough but less comfort for the cruising crowd. That's where I feel a properly set up coilover with dual rate spring set up or even triple rate would allow the comfort in small stuff and take the big hits still. I don't feel Yamaha made a bad skid I feel they made a bad choice by yet again going with a float

believe me, it aint better in the ruff, been there done that in december, and i tried all psi pressures in the shock... rode with an XRS wich is another machine but it would take 2 km on me in about 10 minutes, and we changed sled, i was ahead on the XRS 2km in 10 minutes, it was just not driveable..

I think Star suspension ist trying to find a not too expensive solution for the shock...don't worry, it fits in there, they have tested all winter.. Elka was also testing but i haven't seen anyone try it yet.. you wont get a good shock to go there for under 1200$ so a 200$ fix is pretty good IMO
