So as my name implies I have been a Doo rider in past...... No personal bad experience.

I meet this guy on trail with 800 etch Renegade he loves it blah Blah
Anyway I start to look into it, think about it etc...

Yesterday while riding I'm thinking I have gone 300 miles this weekend and haven't seen a broken down sled. Wow the new sleds are all so reliable Then less than a mile later a Rev Parked at trail side, on the way back a Rev being towed by a Poo

Made me think again........ Really leave Yamaha Hmmmmm

I think maybe God is trying to tell me something"....... :jump: ....lol

Careful what you say. I do beleive last year's ride we all had to stop because you had a failure. :tg:

Will miss you this year at the ride. :sled1:

The first trip this year I towed my friends 05 RX1because it had a oil icon lit and a ck engine light. The oil level was full and I put my dip stick from my 05 RX1 in it and the light was still on. I believe the problem is circuit for the low oil sensor or the computer. I do now believe he could have drove it back but we did not want to take the chance. I have now learned there is not a oil pressure sensor on the 05 RX1. I still need to look for the problem. I have drove this sled a couple times are home for a couple miles but the light has not come back on yet. Other than that I have never seen a 4s towed.
On yesterdays ride. We seen a sled that was burned to the ground so bad that it was not recognizable. When we got back to the parking lot I seen a couple guys unhooking a ZRT that they had just towed in. Really not that many broke down sleds for 550 miles.

Yesterdays ride, seen a cat towed by another cat, 2 different doos pulled over swapping belts, and a Pro-rmk that rolled while taking a corner too fast (while trail riding with a bunch of shorties)............ I had a frozen fuel pump relay to be fair #$%&*

I forgot to mention the slight delay we had when one of the guys in our group with his turbo 03 RX1 was smoking a 2009 boosted cat and he belt blew. What a mess! About 45 mins to clean that up but it was worth it. To be far it was the first trip for the cat and it has not transfer at all. 300 studs and it spins like it has none.

Yeah I did have to replace a belt in Manitoba last year!!!

But 104 trying to stay up with Stiener and Sasquatch was just too much for the Vector with 7 k on the belt.

I am not slamming Doo just thought it interesting right after considering Doo again I see those two

snap

My Yamaha was towed last week by a Cat due to my driveshaft snapping in half , hats off to the Old Timer, a 84 year old stranger that towed me 15 miles back to the trailer while I was out solo.

Just out of curiosity how many of you riders here on TY that will stop and check or lend a hand or tools belts etc to a downed sled regardless of Brand.

When we were working on the belt yesterday several people asked if we needed anything. I thought it was really nice. We would do the same thing.

We always stop to offer help especially if the rider is solo. My 70 year old dad was broke down a few years ago riding solo. He thankfully got a lift back. That's why I don't recommend riding alone. Mid week on some trails you may not see another sled. Then what do you do with no cell phone service? Anyway, people invest a lot of time and money in this sport and it is a terrible feeling to be broke down and ruin a trip. I've ruined a few and will likely have to be towed again at some point. Man, our junk was always getting towed in the 80's. We had a mixed bag of crap then. Even our 440 Exciters.

Last year I had a day that went like this. After breakfast I helped a Polaris with an anitfreeze leak. Just after lunch came accross 2 Nytro's. One was dead. Got him going again and then on our way for supper came accross a lady that had a broken torsion spring on her Doo. Got her fixed up so she could limp home and then chased down her husband that had not turned back yet. Still managed to get over 200 miles of riding in that day.

Help an AC rider replace his belt on the trail even tho he was going the wrong way on a one way. He had no idea that it was a one way trail system or how to change a belt. :o|

Last weekend helped a father/son group that were stuck in 2 feet of snow between the trails. They realized they were on the wrong side and attempted to cross the 40' gap of loose snow. They somehow could not get their long track Polaris' accross. Found out quickly that the father lacked driving skills. There are some people that should not ride sled.

Regardless of brand a fellow when a sledder is in need...... we help.

And if Mark blows a belt on the next MB TY Ride trying to keep up on the lake runs, I will still turn around and help him. :tg:

I jumped ship this year and bought a '14 Summit XM 163".
I have no brand loyalty and made my purchase based on demos of all brands several months of research.
2700 mountain kilometres on it so far, and while it has not been problem free, I am quite impressed.
The 2013-14 etecs are proving to be very reliable and durable. They are a completely different experience than older 2-strokes, and even other current 2s'.
Build quality, I feel, is significantly better than poo and cat. The refinements and details pertaining to a mountain specific sled are hard to ignore. The whole package simply works, and very well.
Keep in mind my observations and experiences only apply to the mountain segment. I think if I was a trail rider, I would most likely be on a Yam 4s.

Not trying to cause a ruckus here, just that they are not the smokey 'ticking-time-bombs' of yesteryear.

my yammi has had a half dozen break downs
motor dropped a valve at 7800
blown jackshaft bearing 4 years ago
broken rear suspension front arm 2 years ago
broke exhaust in half at the 3into1 2 weeks ago
this 1 doesn't count
blew 3 belts...all had almost 5000 miles on them
and i was doing 100 on every 1 of them

so therefore they (brands) are all good till they break
then they are all junk, till we fix' em
then they are good again :jump:

Best way to learn is to make mistakes! I'd bet that after doing that same gap 2 or 3 more times he wouldn't be getting stuck!

Water pump went on my 14 Polaris 600 with 500 miles on it, just before I left for my trip. During that trip, buddies 14 600 etec had power valve issues.
Dad's 14 viper wouldn't start one morning, went for breakfast and came back and it would start.
Duing the trip I saw a couple cats being towed, 1 polaris, a nytro on the side of the trail (probably out of fuel lol) and a ski-doo that hit a deer.
They all have their issues.
