I experienced a ‘jarring’ incident yesterday when my sidewinder hit a powder covered rock on a lake. It was a significant, direct hit to the skid plate. Aside from the aluminum panels being mangled/dented, it did not have any leaks or obvious internal damage. It ran normal for about 10 miles before I noticed it idling high at 2300 when coming to a stop. I shut it off started it and the oil light came on, still high idle, and no codes. Towed it back, same thing this morning and the battery also died. My feeling is that this is going to be major, but I thought I would check with community here for possible hints before I bring it in. Oil is full, no leaks around the filter, etc. Thanks in advance for any comments.

Try pulling the aluminum skid plate back down the best you could, Might be pinching some wires under there ?

Possible that the wires below the fuse block are rubbing on the bracket. It's a known problem area. Tie wrap the wires tighter and insulate the bracket so that the wires can't rub.

Thanks Pstn Head and Chris. I did a full inspection of all the wiring and found that one of the plugs going into the voltage regulator was out. Hard to believe really that this could happen but I plugged it in, charged the battery and it seem to be running fine. Looking like the Aframe is cracked so something I may need to use my insurance for unfortunately.

While you are at it, make sure the drive shaft and plastic sprockets are not bent. I had one in here that hit a rock and messed up a plastic drive sprocket as well.

I had a similar incident with a Nytro. Insurance totaled it.

X2 KA. I just replaced a bent drive axle in a TCat that had hit a rock embankment. Nothing else bent but driveshaft was out 1/4"+
