pilots yes..earlier were 5.7...newer 5.9? I think they beefed them up and to me they're still a little flimsy..
the simmons gen 1 is the original and still best for 99% of riders east of the mississippi...a converted mountain to trail ski...
the gen 2 is like 10" wide and meant for mountains period IMHO..
the most important thing is getting the correct mount and they have model class specific mounts
so FWIW I wouldnt run a regular yamaha mount on a apex...

When I jumped ship from Cat to my Apex I kept the Powder Pros from my ZRT. They worked very well with the Triple Points.

Check out the above web page on the snowtrackers. I ran ski-doo pilots most of last season and gave the snowtracker extreme a try on my last trip of the season (1500 miles). The snowtrackers did every thing they say they would do, carve like a knife.
No darting, carve extremely well in the corners. Maybe a little more muscle to get them to turn. At the end of the day I was happy with them and would recommend them to anyone to try. Like many I was sceptical and first but they do work.

Thanks Kaz. I'll look into them. First time I am looking at replacing stock skis.

New ones are the 6.9's, these numbers are hard to keep track of...
SNOWDOG, you might just want to try setting up your skid to how you like it with the stock skis. I have absolutely no darting with my attak with stock skis, and having the skid setup to the loosest limiter strap setting. The source of darting is directly linked to ski pressure. This setup works very well in all conditions and best for agressive riding!
Also, just some info. I have had some USI's in the past, and although they are fantastic skis, the ski front was so low, that often the skis would stab snowbanks and sometimes lips on washouts, being super dangerous if you werent very careful. The C&A's have the same low profile and would most likely do the same. The OEM skis are the highest at the tip of almost any ski.

If you're looking for an inexpensive way to get rid of darting, have precise steering and no increase in steering effort, try the snowtrackers. I ran them last season and was very pleased. They are slightly more money than a good set of carbides. No need to replace your stock ski.

I'll report as soon as there is enough rideable snow to try out the curve xs's on my apex. Then I'll put them on the Vector and see if they improve that sled.

I use the USI X2 skis and run the #3 deep keel in the front and the #1 in the back. Seems to work well on and off the trail. Love the skis. Steering is a little heavy. Bruce at Pioneer has my new ohlin electronic shock and is revalving and changing the spring. I just installed a set of fox floats and plan on a 13mm sway bar. I will have to re-adjust transfer so hopefully I can dial it with lighter steering. I would love to get some tips on where to start with this set-up?

Loosest setting?
I would think you have no steering out of the turns if you ride hard. If you hammer it, your front end would have to be dancing all over the place with that setting on your strap?

Thats the recommendation USI said worked well when I saw them at the Milwaukee show.
I will mess with shimming and the half pipe trick in the sticky thread, and if that don't work I'll try the snowtrackers. Then I'll go skis if I need to. But I would like to see if I can get the stockers to work...
if you want to use the stock ski, go to a cat dealer and buy the long version of the offset dually. you will have to relocate a couple studs but they work amazing.

I've taken a lot of flack over it, but I think the stock skis are just fine for trail use - as long as you aren't expecting good flotation in the deeper stuff - which I rarely need. I've made some ski savers from 1" metal flat stock to protect the bottom of the ski keel as about the only mod other than shimming. They work fine for me, and I'm about as aggressive a rider as you're likely to run across. They may be too aggressive for some.
If you run the ski in marginal conditions with no protection, the bottom of the keel will eventually become rounded, loosing the flat planing surface that's present when new. Then, I could see where it might start screwing up.... FWIW
