Putting new skis on. Anyone have 2 cents on the yamaha mountain ski or any others.... Mostly off trail in the UP. Im favoring yamaha's for the moment of powderhounds. Curious to know the width and weight of yamaha's....

thanks

I have the yamaha moutain ski on my fx and I think they works great. Only thing is that the kiil on them are slim and high so on hard packed trails sled becomes a little bit harder to manouver than with the stock skis.

Hmmmm.... Good to know, I was planning on MTN lite skis for no particular reason, just seemed like the best affordable way to go..Anyone have any pics of the FX with MTN lite skis? Frank.

I have changed the "ski handles" to black since this picture was taken. To blue I think.

so are there different mountain skis between the apex and phazer lite, or does yamaha only have one mountain skis....? I assume all the regular phazer trail skis hardware will cross over to the mountain ski...? Will the loops also change over?

any recommendations on carbide sizes... I'm running the freeride track.

Thanks

I am not 100% sure exactly what you need, but you have to add some spacers or something to correctly mount the MTN skis...Sniper, enlighten us!

I'm not sure about the mountain skis, but I won't run anything else but Studboy Shaper bars on my sled. They are the best carbides out no question. I put them on my wifes and my sleds before we even went out for the first ride of the season. The stock Yamaha carbides are completely worthless and the worst pieces of junk I've ever seen on a sled. Change those as soon as you can. That's my suggestion.

Yes your right. You will need spacers, longer bolts and also that rubber thing for dampening ski movement. (dont know what you call it in us). Got all parts from the phazer mnt-lite.

I run the stock carbides and the steering bites realy hard, but thats because of the higher kiil on this ski. Also, the loops shown on picture are from the stock skis so they will fit.

Dont have any jumping pics but I hope I can come up with something before end of season. Think we have about 6 more weeks to go :flag:

If i was to purchase the mountain ski's from yamaha would they come with the spacers and longer bolts or is this something i would need to pick up myself. Thanks

The parts needed do not come with the ski, you have to pic it up yourself.

Here are the parts needed:

Bolt 90105-10106-00 2pc
collar 90387-10036-00 2pc
collar 90387-16022-00 2pc
collar 90387-16023-00 2pc
stopper 8GP-23743-00-00 2pc

Also, I would recomend you to take a look at this link: http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/acces ... all/1.aspx

The partnumber on this "accessories" ski are not the same as on the mnt-lit stock skis. The accessories ski was much cheeper than the stock ones. But this isnt anything "new" from yamaha. I have been a yamaha customer for over 20 year now and so I'm getting used to that same parts have different partsnumber and price.

I bought stud bow dual runner carbides, and frankly, the phazer handled like crap, and lost a ton of speed. I was later told that Yamaha did not recommend those to be used. I agree, I took them off and will save them to try on my new 2008 FX Nytro MTX.....................
