this whole sled of the year thing is a joke.how can any magazine or anyone else for that matter pick the best or most innovative sled based on a hand full of unfinished ,unproven, prototypes.i know it wouldnt do any of the manufacturers any good sales wise, but it would make all the sence in the world to name the sled of the year after a season of actually useing the finished product.it probably wouldnt happen but the "proclaimed sled of the year" by any manufacturer could be a problem plagued piece of junk. :ORC

Having a bad day are we? Yeah the world could end tomorrow but it wont.
The apex is heavily RX based and the things on the motor that changed are well proven on their motorcycles etc. You need to catch up on your reading and cheer up.

hey tork lighten up! i am in no way putting down yamaha or the gt.i ordered one.i am sure it will be typical yamaha engineering ,perfomance, fit and finish.all i was trying to say was the sled of the year tag is worthless.and what makes you think i need to do more reading?sorry if i ruffled any feathers.

I am lightened up man! :D I edited your title "sled of the year piece of junk?" Because I wanted for you to have a fair shot at stating your opinion. We have had guys coming over from the dark side to cause trouble and I was not quite sure what you were up to.

My post means nothing more than I have studied up on these Apex sleds in most every way possible and I think they are going to be great, not pieces of junk in any possible way. And that if you did not see that you need to catch up on your reading :D In turn I understand your point, just dont fully agree because all 'new' sleds arent really all new they are evolutions of existing sleds.

Snowmobile of the year is by no means a worthless tag,it represent's that all the engineers and test riders, artist's at Yamaha have done there job to the fullest and are recieving there just do's from the snowmobiling community. That would be like you busting your #*$&@ at work to only have your employer not give you a raise.Does that seem fair?.So congrat's Yamaha and all the fine people that work there worldwide for your labour of love, from there plate to our's.

THANK YOU! :yam:

I know I liked (snowmobile of the year) back in /97 and again in 03,don't care for the rest of the magazine.

Nope, but it DOES happen an awful lot, doesn't it.

Sled of the year is alright. But if you buy a sled soley based on that, you're missing out. I applaude Yamaha for allowing so many, average joe riders, to try out the '06's before they ordered them. :yam:

I think that most people who bought the Apex could really care less what some magazine thinks. They bought the Apex because they looked at the specs, some actually rode the prototype and saw the potential the sled had.
The RX-1 was a great sled, and the Apex is the next step foreward from the RX-1.
A "sled of the year" title is merely a bonus and backs up what many of us already think about the Apex.

Kyokushinkai, the 97 Vmax SX, the SRX (not sure what year), and the 03 RX-1. I think the original Vmax 4 was, and maybe one of the Exciters too. Not sure about that.

I could care less what the "sled of the year" is in snowblower magazine. The reasons i bought an Apex, 150 hp'ish, want to try a 4 stroke, (never rode one), and you get so MUCH technology for the same price as the other high output sled. The Mach is even more expensive and it's a 2 stroke. But the biggest factor is, i ride and don't like to wrench on my sleds. Time spent wrenching is time off the trail and yamaha's just seem to be the most reliable. SOTY? so what..
