sled of the year?

i think the few issues with the apex series proves my point, wich was to say these machines were mainly untested in the real sled world.huge unacceptable hand warmer issue, being addressed, some over heating issues, being addressed, bogey wheel issue, being addressed.and i wont even mention the other isolated issues.I STILL THINK THESE ARE THE BEST SLEDS OUT THERE!but i am glad i backed out of my 06 apex gt (cost me $300.00)and rode my rx-1 1 more season.next year i will be getting an 07 rtx :yam:

Yes the Apex is far more advanced than the RX1. The RX1 was rushed into production so that Yamaha could be the first 4 stroke performance production sled and it missed the mark a bit. I do not regret buying the RX1 the first year. Just loved the sound of that engine. It's nice to know that the engine will last along long time. Had a chance to give the Apex GT a run and it is soooo stable at speed just made me want one even more!!!

This aword is given to the best thing to come for the upcoming season based on the pre production sled's that they heve to evalueate. It gives the consumer good insite. It is not a long term durability test and i am sure all potential buyer's under stand that. Should it have gone to the Mach, or Cat's new release, Or maybe the Fusion. I don't think so!!!. They hit the nail on the head with the Apex and i for one don't care to know there finding's after the season is over, I would rather hear the good and bad before i buy. The minor problem's that my Apex has had is not even worth mentioning compared to the 2,000 smiles this sled has given me so far. kviper

if im not mistaken the rx-1 had been about 8 years in the works ,not rushed to production.

I don't understand how this topic even got started.Every product in the world is evaluated when they first come out.Cars,trucks,motorcycles,fridges,sterio's,movies,etc. :drink:

Snappy yes Yamaha was in development for awhile but they wanted to be the first 4 stroke production sled on the market. When Cat brought their 4 stroke out before Yamaha, Yamaha decided to bring out the first 4 stroke performance sled which to me was very successful in the RX-1 but it wasn't exactly what Yamaha wanted so the redesigned it into the Apex.

I think u should look at all the problems on the apex board compared to the rx1 when it came out in 03. From my memory the rx1 did'nt have all these issues that the Apex's have had. I would say the apex was rushed.

tcsrx they both (RX1 & Apex)and they all have problems. From what I have seen the biggest problems are the warmers and the wheels on the Apex. The 03 Rx1 had linkage, seat cover problems and hood problems. Yamaha slowly came through for all of the RX1 problems. I am still running the original track that everyone complained about and the original linkage. So from what I have been through Yamaha will fix the problems. If you have had a chance to ride the RX1 and the Apex you might know what I mean by stable a high speeds. The Apex is soooo solid compared to the RX1 but I still enjoy what I have. The engine!!! I can't belive how people just take that 4 stroke for granted. It is just an awsome package :4STroke:
