FOR WHAT ITS WORTH!!!! HERES A LITTLE MORE DETAIL ON MY SITUATION. when i first tried to start one sled. it spun over like there was no compression. so i went to the other one. it to spun like there was no compression. then i was like ( WHAT THE @%&*!!!!) in my thoughts there was no way all the valves were stuck open. so i took the first sled into the shed and pulled the plugs. sure enough no compression. there was an old trick that my old man taught me. flood the cylinders to unstick the valves. so i went back to the other sled started cranking her over, with the throttle wide open. sure enough within 8-12 seconds it fired right up. went back to the shed, put the plugs back in, used the same process. that sled fired right up. been on a trip to the UP since then. no problems at all. start my sleds once a month through the summer and have not had a problem since. were all the valves stuck open? i couldn't tell ya but there was not any compression on all 4 cylinders. JUST MY 2 CENTS WORTH!!!!!

Compression does drop when the engine is dry.

Plain and simple.......valves can stick open. Not a common occurrence but it can happen. I've seen it many times in my line of work. There are 5 valves per cylinder and it’s not unbelievable that several can stick under the right conditions and it doesn’t take much to free them up. IMO that was the cause of the problem with danq’s sleds.

Two sleds, 4 cylinders each. That means that a minimum of 8 valves must have stuck. Statistically impossible.

LB you wouldn’t know.....oh wait that’s right you inspected the engine, now I can see how you can say it’s impossible. Besides I’ve seen it before, unless you also worked on the engines that I experienced those problems with.
