Slides COOKED !!! Is Marginal Wheel Kit a help?

First set lasted me 2 seasons & 4700 miles. Just changed to iceripper xt from my studded ripsaw & 150 miles later my slides were done. They wore right in front of the front bogey wheels. We had changed the wheels before I picked up the sled & the originals lasted a LONG time but this time it was horrible. Dealer said they have been going thru a ton of slides THIS YEAR. I am wondering if the slides are bad. One sales guy at the dealer had switched to Blue slides on his nytro xtx & he has had NO Issues yet while everyone else has been melting them. Is there anything I should look for with the way my slides went SO QUICKLY this time & the way the wore. I have ordered the marginal wheel kit to try to help & if I have to replace them again it will be the Blue ones. Any other recommendations appreciated (iceripper is fully clipped track with the windows open).

I can't help on what changes you made that caused the fast wear. But I have the two available wheel kits for my Attak and they have helped alot and no problems with the wheels.
One wheel kit goes up front just before the curve. The other kit mounts back about middle of the track. Both are installed per simple instructions and install. Yamaha made.
I got the one that mounts midway off Ebay for $60.00..

My original slides went 1800 miles, with front wheel kit my aftermarket blue ones, (not Yamaha) were cooked in 500 miles! Can't blame bad snow conditions, we have 4' on the ground here. Looking at replacing again, any recomendations?

I got over 3200 miles on my last set of slides last year..

This year i only have 1600 on them and they are worn out in the same place as yours..

Hard snow conditions cause that kind of wear.. not enought lube for the track..

There are a lot of posts if you do a seach. One product I purchased the beginning of last season was Pioneer Performances "hyfax extender wheel spacer kit" $89.00. Best money I've spent in a long time (along with Pilot skis). They are a replacement mounting block for your stock wheels that lower your wheels 2.5mm. Problem solved! Hope this helps.

Only problem with them is that the stock wheels are JUNK.. spend a little extra and buy slydog wheels, they pull in more snow and are larger than stock..

I ride with a RX1 which is fully clipped and I'm closed every 3rd and depending on snow conditions we noticed that the fully clipped tends to heat up quicker when riding at slower to mid speed and I'm the oppesite and at higher speeds he tends to run cooler and I run hotter probably due to more friction in my case and less snow getting in track, we also noticed on mild days he heats up quicker than my closed track, all this said I don't think theirs a PERFECT set up where you won't have any HYFAX issue's with running a 1 1/4" lug track...another thing to is that the fully clipped track will have more top end speed.

Check out the pic I've added some MARGINALS on the inside rails in the middle part right behind the rubber bumpers, so far they work great 3000kms so far.

I felt the slides dragging on my '07 Apex ER when it was new, I put the accessory wheel kit on, no more problems and this thing glides like a bird now, no wear on the slides after 1000 miles. I guess it worked. Wig
