SLP hyfax anti wear pads

How many have experience using SLP's hayfax anti wear pads on their tracks? These pads seem to make sense to me, the rubber track does not slide very well over the plastic hyfax. I ordered a set today so I'm going to give them a try. I'm also going to add a set of 8" dia. rear wheels to help further reduce rolling resistance. I'm looking to reduce friction to increase gas mileage. Thanks!!

I think it was Snowtech mag that said it is not always great to increase rear wheel size in trail sleds. Something about that they actually change the geometry of the skid and can cause problems when full suspension travel is used (bottoming).

i got them and they make a big difference in friction, my sled rolls like never before, also noticed that when it was on the lift at idle the track would creep, it never did that before the pads were on. don't know if it helps with gas milage, but less resistance can't hurt.

The one thing i dont like is the added weight to the track.

It really isn't much weight though. Nothing like studs. a 121" track only needs 32 of them and they are not heavy.

Yea when i got the bag in the mail it was alot more weight than i was hoping for.

also look at the wieght diffence in a fully clipped track compared to a every 3rd window its like 5 lbs more for fully clipped... this is cheaper easier and maybe even better than fully clipped.

rear wheels are 7 in

I stop at the dealer to see what size stock is and they are 7.12...I've seen a pic of a sled with a 8" wheel to the rear and it looks like the track doesn't even touch the hyfax.. Maybe I'm missing something here? My hyfax doesn't even hardly wear to the rear of the sled and that seems like it wouldn't be a good idea the track not being able to touch the hyfax to reduce load on the wheels and axel mount and wheel bearings rail mount to axel etc...puts all the strain upon impack when jumping or rough riding etc... to certain areas and would eventually cause failure of something from what I can see. Maybe I'm wrong or missing something here any input to clear this up would be helpful...thanks!

I believe when you install larger rear wheels you need to offset the axle to keep the bottom of the wheels in line with the hifax. You just can't install larger wheels.

ok so still trying to figure out why you would want a 8"wheel ..is it just a looks thing?? What am I missing here???
