It's easier to roll the track around an 8" wheel than a 7" wheel.

I put them on my 04 Warrior and I got 5600 miles out of the first set of Hyfax, they might help a little on top end also, I'm happy with them!

Yama-Crazy,
I bought a set of 8" dia. aluminum wheels 2 years ago and have not had a chance to try the sled yet. I bought the 8" wheels for two reasons: looks and reducing friction. I really like the look of the polished aluminum wheels. While I was at a meeting of several RX-1 owners at the Otis Reservior in MA 2 years ago there was one sled (I believe it was owned by Adirondack Blue) which had 8" dia. plastic wheels which he got from Mountain Performance. His sled was the only one with the 8" wheels and was consistently 2 MPH faster than other RX-1's that day. That tells me the 8" wheels reduced the rolling resistance of the track. I am also adding the SLP anti-wear pads to further reduce friction. I want to improve my gas mileage (even a little bit helps where I ride) and reducing track friction should help. Hope this helps.

8" wheels on a 121" skid will hit the rear die cast alum bulkhead, especially using studs. M

I think running your track looser will help too.

SLP Track/Hifax Anti-wear pads
Increased Performance!
Product Information: Get the 44 pack so you have extras! 8)
Part # Description Retail

25-101 Anti Wear Pad Kit per each: 1 pad, 1 washer, 1 nut 0.74
25-102 Anti Wear Pad Kit 40 pack: for 136/144/151" tracks 29.60

25-104 Anti Wear Pad Kit 42 pack: for 159" tracks 31.08
25-105 Anti Wear Pad Kit 44 pack: for 166" tracks 32.56
These new wear pads reduce drag and wear on Hifax. Designed for the new Polaris tracks that are not equipped with windows or wear clips on each cross bar. Without these anti-wear pads you will have higher Hifax temperature, more drag against the track and even depositing rubber on the Hifax. Eventual damage to the track is also possible. A very inexpensive method to increase performance and hifax life.

I drilled 1 1/8" holes in my third windows and what a difference it made in rolling resistance and no added wieght. Put 400 miles on it and no issues so far. It never rolled as easy as it does now, when slowing down befor I drilled the holes in the track. :exc:

I drilled holes in every third window too.
I'm keeping an eye on them to see if it holds up as well keeing an eye onn hyfax wear.

Thanks for the link Bob. After looking at the websight & pictures, am I correct in my assumption that their "aniti wear pads" are just a simple carriage bolt with a locknut?
