SLP wear pads = NO TOP END GAINS..

FourLoad is correct. If you are only running stock clutching and gearing, then put the rivits back in the stock weights. Make sure it does not run any higher than 10600.00. Also, I am running 1 3/4" of sag @20lbs of pull in the center of the rail. You are running it to tight, even though the manuel says to run it at 1 1/4, I would run it looser. Put the weights back to stock and try that. If that helps gear it down one tooth on the top. You will not lose top end. Without the gearing change, than that should get you up to 120 on the Dream Meter.

I was underreving before..

The top speed is the same as before... I ran the sled totally stock and it had a top speed of 109.. Moddified the weights and topend is the same but sled is definitly quicker in the midrange!

Never had it on glare ice..(not really interested in that) if you cant get the highest speed on snow where it counts.. whats the point?

I can pull 120-122 on the Dream Meter on a hard packed groomed trail.

Top speed and R's

Ran my attak 1050 miles so far this season. Best I've seen on the dream meter is 115. Conditons were fantastic. 24 degrees F. No winds, at 200 feet above sea level. Ice covered lake with approx. 1/4 inch powder cover. GPS in my pocket indicated 103 mph. My sled is dialed in!!!! Don't know how guys pull 128-130 on DM.

my opinion..........to start with, put the weights back to stock(8fp-00 weight with 3 full rivets),you gotta have the weight to close the front clutch period,i have a stock front spring(y-s-y) for softer conditions and a (y-p-y) for hard conditions, has less engagement pressure for a smoother engage and less overall total force to allow the weights to close the front clutch easier...........now the secondary,im running a stock secondary spring with washers (spacers) between the helix and the sheave studs to prevent coil binding(helix is also machined to allow shift out) and im running 70 wrap on softer trails and 60 wrap on hard conditions, stock gearing, limiter pulled up to center holes, stock 4 inch carbide runners on ski,no studs........when sled hooks good it turns about 9800 and runs to about 10,600-10,700 after about 60-70 mph, this is the best top end setup ive found and didnt really lose much on low end or mid range,a 2 stroke you want to rpm to jump to max and stay there but a 4 stroke if you do that you get too much spin on low end,you gotta load the clutching to it to use the torque first then bring on the hp after you get moving, this probably isnt gonna help the guys that just run on the lake that are fully studded but running miles of rr beds and long hard pack lake runs you gotta let the weights close the front clutch, dont fight it with winding helix too tight or removing rivets....oh ya 131 on dreammeter on groomed trail last night just before supper, gotta love it

Just had a Clutching GOD.. give me some insight..

He told me to run a 23 tooth top gear and my problems will be solved..

No top end

Weltracer - your not alone on top speed. Both the Apex's I rode last week topped out at speeds similiar to yours. I mentioned in one of my other post that the sled pulls hard but doesn't really impress me as far as top end goes. It is what it is...
