I have been researching skis on here for months before I decided to order a pair of Slydog Powder Hounds. There are a lot of posts on skis here, but I have to say, the search feature on this 4 stoke side is not as easy to use as the one on the 2 stroke side. Anyways, I have a couple questions related to Slydog Powder Hounds that I remember reading in other posts. I just cant find the info again.

1) Ski Rubber: Does the tall end of the rubber go in the front?

2) Shimming: I remember reading about how Slydog changed their ski rubber. Are people still shimming new 2008 Slydogs?

3) Ski Savers: I remember reading a post about how skis savers will not work with Stud Boy Shaper bars. I think it said you needed a round host bar. Does this sound right?

Sorry for the repeat info, I am just having a hard time finding the posts that discussed these things. Thanks, G.B.

To get easy to use serch functionality use Google

add whatever search criteria (words) and in the domains textbox add: ty4stroke.com to narrow down to pages from TY only.

1. The tall end goes in the rear
2. Have '07 Slydogs, no shimming done, not necessary.
3. I did remove the ski savers, they added to much flotation when trails had loose snow on top of hardpack causing excessive push when cornering.

Thanks rxrider for your input. Are you sure about the tall end of the rubber in the rear? It sure looks like it should go on the front side. G.B.

I have the tall end of the rubber at the front on my slydogs! No shims last year but this year i might shim i think the front of the ski does lift up at the front reducing bite into the snow. I think Bergestrom says to shim them i forget how much.

Is this Mountain or deep snow skis?

On hard pack it can be rather dangerous having too much pressure in front of the spindle.

When lifting the front of the sled from the ground the skis should lift the tip a bit or at least stay parallell to the ground.

The Apex mountain skis I ran in my turbo sled did lower the front of the ski when jacking the front end of the ground. They were great in powder but dangerous on crust or when suddenly digging in on hardpack.

The Slydogs I have installed now are pretty neutral, but it uses the stock rubber under the spindle.

I have the trails dont know if its different for the powerhounds or not. What i noticed is when the skis are on a hard surface the front of the carbide is slightly of the ground. Skis are up when off the ground.

Been out in my garage to have a look at it, I was wrong...hahaha

YES - The tall end of the rubber goes in the front.

On the Slydog trail ski I have installed in my turbo sled it does.

It depends which sled you have guys.

RX-1, Vector, Apex style sleds the tall end of the rubber goes to the front.

FX Nytro, Phazer style sleds the tall end of the rubber goes to the rear.

Other than bergstroms anyone try other carbides? Woody's duelies? Others?

Thanks to all for your comments. I purchased the Powder Hounds with 6" Shaper Bars and they are going on my 07 Rage Gt. Thanks, G.B.
