I just purchased a sno-scoot it's in really good shape.Once it's cleaned up it will look like brand new.Only one problem owner could not find the key.Is there any way to get a new key or someway to get around it.

If it's like any of the other Yamahas you can just unhook the key switch on the back side as long as it still has a kill switch & you'll be able to start it without any problems.

Tis the season to be buying Sno Scoots as I myself just recently purchased one for my 5 yr. old son. Unfortunately, he'll have to wait until Christmas before seeing or riding it, though. I just couldn't bring myself to go out and get one of those mini-sleds that Ski Doo, Polaris, Artic Cat sell. It will give me great pleasure to raise my son up on Yamahas! :yam:

One question I have is would there be any difficulty in getting Yamaha parts if one had to for these sleds? I will have to say that I don't forsee myself needing any parts in the near future as mine is in very excellent condition as well but was just curious...you never know what you might need.

Silver, I hear you...if my son doesn't get to ride his new snowmobile around this winter due to lack of snow, he will certainly let me know about it. Of course, we always take a trip up north with the wives and kids so at least he would get some riding time around where we stay.

About your key issue, couldn't you also just replace the entire ignition switch. That way you would have a key as well. I believe some place like Dennis Kirk or some other Parts Unlimited dealer should be able to order a replacement unless the aftermarket ignition switches aren't available for this sled. Just a thought.

I haven't really looked at it yet.Still hoping the guy I bought it from will find it.If not I will figure something out to make it work.I would like some kind of key on it.
