I get a kick about how the doo were still in "break-in" mode. It doesn't make sence that if the dealers knew about the break-in mode that they would still run them that way. Especialy sence doo is claiming such great perfomance. Why would the dealers shoot themselves in the foot like that? I tell you though that poo-poo looks pretty impresive though

Are those NEW sleds? I'm thinking about engine brake it...
I'am sure the snowmobiles are new and have had time to do initial break -in on the engine.

Weren't they ALL brand new sleds?
All requiring some break-in period?
All driven by the same driver?
Same distance?
Same lights?
Same timers?
Maybe we can bring them ALL back with
1000 miles, 3000 miles, 5000 miles??
But then again, all the two strokes will need a rebuild by then!!!

I'm starting to think the 2-strokes problems have to do with the emissions requirements and lack of useable power. The Apex is 100# heavier with the same horsepower, and it wins? Must be Yamaha magic.

Notice how Snow Week quickly comes to Ski-Doo's defense with the chip burn in excuse. Gee how come no one mentions how long it takes to break in a 4 stroke vs. a 2 stroke. Every person I know that owns a 4 stroke Yami says how there sled gets much faster after 1000 miles. Also how do they declare the winner? They made it sound like the winner is: the 800R Ski-Doo because it had the best dealer prep turn around. It's dealer prep run was still slower than the Apex box stock run. It looks to me that Snow Week was just as dissapointed in the shootout as Ski Doo was.

Who cares about dealer prep it should be right out of the box. They didn't mention how the yammies need break in time. There quick to mention that yammie had ten more horse, thats fine and dandy but mention the weight diff to. Yamaha better built no rebuilds. We weighed more and still won.

Maybe we could bring back all the sleds at 10,000 miles to see how the motors are running then.......... Oh, wait... Most likely the 2-smokers would be dead and gone by then............... MM.

I notice Doo is over reving the 800R from the factory just like they did the 1000 - they do that so it will pass emmision test - running correctly, it is not even EPA compliant - I also noticed the 2001 SRX still holds the fastest box stock record by a very small margin - to another Yamaha!!!! - conditions were almost exact!!

I was up in old forge this weekend and I heard Jack at big moose yamaha say that you have to change the jackshaft to change the helix in a xp..Anyone know anything else about it??

Yes.. that is true... it's a pain in the A$$ to change helix on an XP. And, even when you attempt this, there is something in the secondary (had this explained to me) that may break, if you are not careful. That's just crazy...

I was thinking the same thing. I believe the SRX ran a 12.01 ET that year.
