So, should I buy a sidewinder??

Myself and another TY member have been bouncing some ideas back and forth. I will start up a separate thread for this once I make some progress.
would be interesting yo see how a given setup behaves with three different riders, 150, 200, 250 lbs. seems pretty relevant in the scheme of things

I challenge anyone to make a 137 transfer.....it wont without serious change in rear mounting location.

There were a ton of us tried all the normal things, blocks removed all winter and strap lengthened longest...I guess it does not matter how many times I type this.

With a 1.75 track I don't worry about transfer for the trails I ride. My front limiter strap is in the third hole and still pulls the skis in the air coming out of the corners.

ap
Apexs or new Sidewinders .?You might not wake up tomorrow ?God Forbid !!Get that winder and Enjoy !!
I love my apex the way it is now, and a new one sadly won't improve much if any. I literally cant do much more to improve mine, and other than g outs, shouldn't ride any faster. Sometimes we hit ludicrous on trails...lol... The hygear and reinforced mono and wrp seat and risers make it great on bumps...very nice ride, and little bottoming. Curves, slim jims, and gytr compression and rebound up front with super tight (custom) sway bar bushings for instant pull from the other side, make it handle. I won't let it leave the family...lol! But like you say, life is short, and I'm on the other
end...hehehe...but still search for the ultimate snowmobile. The sidewinder sounds a lot like it once I mentally get past the fact it came out of Thief River Falls!!!

We should have sold you on it by now lol
Honestly, I'm a little surprised how everyone seems to at least like the sled, if not love it. It appears to balance almost everything well. Wife just asked how much it'll cost. 20 grand. So the real price won't be a shock....lol!

as my gf says "you only live one, quit talking and do it!".

sumpbuster, as for the apex being a handful in the trees, i know where you are coming from and my brother and i made our own clutch set-up to fix that and it works great. i can now crawl in the trees at less than 5mph and not burn a belt. still hits 100mph on my xtx so i am happy with it.

Talked to the dealer tonight. Looking like an LTX SE 137 with some tweaks. White and blue. Talked about skis, but he has a setup that works. Probably won't mention what he is doing to the sled, as it's their business, but I can always put curves on later. Starting to get interesting, plus had 3 inches of snow. All gone now, but it's a good sign!

The front arm angle is too flat .Remove the front inner wheels ,then lower the mounting position of the front arm on the rails
Interesting! Do yo have some picture of that mod?

dam nobody compare axys are they bad sleds?

I know they are way less money. This is hard enough for me, being a loyal cat detestor and no interest in Poo!
My opinion is Poo's are 'adequate'. Nothing memorable. Most owners around here just say how much less they paid than other people.

I don't care what a sled in the HP department has anymore as it has GOT to be the right choice of sled for what your really (honestly) are going to do with it. For me it really depends on who ya are sort of and where your at in life with the sport... and there are a lot of guys that belong on a SW I guess as long with any sled they respect the speed and power. I could at this point in my life afford any sled so money is not the issue ( not rich by any means) its all about having all you need. The SW is a awesome sled but I would rather be on a new viper with a 137 or even the 144 for what I do anymore. I ride only in the UP and have lots of trails where ya can let a SW rip but a viper can fill my thrill for that small percentage ya do that.... For instance, I just bought ski doo 900 ace renegade for my wife for a many reasons ... It has a great proven motor, three power modes, over 20mpg!, Fly by wire throttle for a effortless lever feel, you can rotate it 180' to use with index finger, a learning key for new and young riders, 0-60+ is just as quick as most anything out there, Rides great and she is excited about riding still after her 30 yrs in the sport because the sled has and does everything she now feels is important.. sorry for the long post just trying to help on making a choice as it will cost you money and disappointment if you don't look at a lot of factors... Sound like you have spent the time thinking now go out and buy!!! I am trying to wear out my apex as I think the viper LE 137 is my retirement gift!
