The pricetag here in Sweden, it costs about $20 000
If I just had to pay $10k for one I wouldn't mind...

Some of you misunderstood me. I'm not saying the sled isn't worth it, it is. What I'm saying is that I don't get a very good return on my investment considering how little I use these things now. My riding buddies has dwindled from about 12 guys down to one. He is now talking about getting out of sledding like the rest. In two years I only put 900 miles on my Warrior  It use to be that every weekend someone in the group was heading north, not anymore :?

For guys like Matt and Tom that can ride out there back door it's not as big a deal. I have to drive 3 hours to ride on the trail. I have to drive 6 1/2 to ride in munising.
It all costs money to do. I think the Apex is the badest sled built to date. I orrdered an attack and if I wasn't going back to college I'd be taking it. I just hink the prices are getting to high.
Let it go people.

Jason, even for those of us that ride out our backdoor the cost of riding(depreciation) is out of control.

You are right Jason, because I can do that where I live. If I couldn't, I would not own a sled.

I would still do it, just for the love of the sport. I put 200 miles on local trails this last season, and over 4,000 elsewhere. I met some great people this year trail riding. If I had to do it again, I definetly would. I figure I am only here once in my lifetime, so liv ' it up!

I don't disagree with you Terry. Some of my best freinds came from sledding. You don't need to spend 10K to do it.
If you want the best you have to spend 10K. It's just sad in my book.

I have to drive 10 to 12 hours to ride every other weekend during the winter months, the driving gets old but the riding is well worth the time and money spent. Met a lot of nice people this past winter thanks to Mr. Sled and looking forward to another great winter. None of us know how long we're going to live, so make the most of it and enjoy everyday doing what you love! This is how I choose to spend my time and money and I have no regrets, if any of us looked at the economics of sledding and had to cost justify our winter sport, we wouldn't be buying new sleds.... I can't wait to get my 06'.

Again you guys just don't get it. I'm not saying you shouldn't spend your money or you should 'nt get an 06 or that the money you spend isn't well spent. I agree Life is short. But when it costs 10K to have a good time for 8 weekends a year it's getting out of hand. Maybe your all indepeantly wealthy. Maybe your all salemen who make 150k to 200K a year, I'm not.
Enjoy your 2006 sleds. If School and family wern't more important to me I'd be taking my snow check.

My point wasnt that the Yamaha was too expensive, cause they all are too expensive if you want to get down to it. Its just at this time of the yr I tend to start thinking what Ive got will suffice for the amount of time I spend on it ,and I could spend the money on another fun item.. cant have too much fun ya know. Come fall Ill be itching for the new sled, its a seasonal thing. Someone mentioned spoiled, I think if you took a snapshot of joe american, we(snowmobilers) are spoiled to some extent, I make it a point to spoil my wife and I, thats why we work!! To spend this kind of money on a hobby takes either a bit of disposable income or a lack of household priorities, Id hate to think any of us sacrifice the "important stuff" just to ride a new sled...but Ive been wrong before.

If you guys think the sleds are too expensive look at the R1 and then look at the apex there is way more to a sled than a motorcycle and we are paying about the same or a little less. Then look at the ski-doos they are even more $ than the yamahas. This is only my opinion but I think there is way more technology in a 4stroke than a 2 and when your apex is at 10,000 miles I bet it runs alot better than any 2stroke with the same milage if they have not yet rebuilt there top end.
