Can anyone tell me if the new solid state fuel pump relay(red) for 2014 will work on a 2009 Nytro XTX and also what the correct part number is if it does work. I saw a post from someone that was concerned that a solid state relay might drain the battery on older sleds.
One of the stickies identifies the new 2014 relay as part number as 8GN-81950-00-00, but when I look up the part number online it comes up as 8HG-81950-09-00. See the attached for identification.
8GN-81950-00-00 looks like the part number for the radiator fan (for some reason it looks like the fan is a different relay than the other two).
Appreciate any help.

The 2014 SSR does not need the adapter like the relays for the 2011-2013 Nytro's. It looks like they went back to the 2008-2010 style relay housing that also did not need an adapter. It appears that the new relay should fit all years.

yeah since it is solid state it always draws a bit of battery right? I want to replace the fuel relay on my 09 xtx to SSR but I dont want to be left with a dead battery if i cant ride for 2 weeks. no pull start sucks!

Thanks, but still not clear on the part number though.

The new red solid state fuel pump relay will definitely work on your 09 nytro as a direct replacement and will not have any ill side effects - the part number on it is 8GN- 81950-00-00 and it is being used as stock parts on most 2014 models.
Snoriderjoe - Sorry I couldn't open your first posts attachment with my tablet and dont have access to a real computer right now that might be able to open it or I may be able to shed some light on whatever info may be confusing you regarding the part number.

Thanks for the reply.
To me it looks like this should be the part number:8HG-81950-09-00.

Your holding to much faith in where things should be located..lol - In the real world we've unfortunately found out that when they assemble these sleds there really has been no consistency as to which order the relays are mounted onto the relay holder. It has changed from year to year and sometimes even during the year from sled to sled. I assure you the new solid state fuel pump relay is part number 8GN-81950-00-00 regardless of what order they show it in a picture either in a service manual or microfiche. When locating the fuel pump relay on a sled always look for the relay with 3 red wires and 1 blue wire going to it as that is the fuel pump relay.

Listen to p port parts... just changed out my fuel pump relay for the red one and it works fine. I followed their advice and found the relay with 3 red wires and just swaped it out for the new relay. Sled has been starting fine.
Fuel pump relay was the third relay back from the front of the sled for me anyway.
Also changed my starting relay/solenoid as well because it was sticking. Hopefully all my starting issues will be a thing of the past.

If you've had issues with the fuel injection relay sticking when extremely cold out (below zero) or would like to prevent it on any fuel injected sled Yamaha has made from 2006-2013 (Phazer, Nytro, Apex, Vector, Venture GT/TF) the new solid state fuel injection relay would be the best way to ensure trouble free operation in those temperatures.

If the new SSR replaces all the previous year fuel relays I'm assuming it would also be a direct replacement for the load and fan relays also. Yamaha shows only one SSR relay installed in the 2014 Nytro's and from what I'm hearing it's the fuel pump relay which means the load and fan relays are still mechanical. I'm not sure why they wouldn't replace them all with solid state including the high/low beam. If the new relay is interchangeable with the load and fan it might be worth replacing them also.

The new relay will be interchangeable with the load and fan relays however have you ever heard of one of those sticking when cold? I haven't - for some odd reason those circuits dont tend to have the relay stick when cold... the only reasoning ive ever been able to grasp with this is that when the fuel pump relay is asked to work the machine is not running and it is cold so the relay at best is getting a low 12 volts from the battery applied to it to make it work and unfortunately when bitterly cold they can stick. When the load or fan relays are asked to work the machine is running and charging so the system voltage at that point is usually around 13.2-14 volts and at that point the relays just seem to always work and get past the sticking issue. Therefore I dont believe you really need to update the load and fan relays but if you really want to I dont see any reason why the new solid state relays wouldn't work.

never had a problem with my relays, granted there is a ton of dielectric grease around all of them and has been redone every year....

For the cost of the relay, like 10-12 bucks...I would rather be safe than pissed!
