I've been quietly searching and reading the forums for quite some time. However, today I started my new engine package for the first time and wanted to post a thanks to Greg Santry (Twin Turbo) of http://www.powerbygns.com/ for all the help he has given. He was one of the few engine builders who took the time to listen to me after I explained what I intended to do.

Which is repower this:

It had an Arctic Cat triple and ran like stink. But it was too loud for some of the areas I run and wouldn't have enough power for the new aero package.

A few shots of the installed motor:

and a quick video of the first fire:

Greg has been super easy to work with and very responsive to my unusual build. Thanks a bunch!

Now on to all the final tuning type stuff....

Thanks KJ, happy to help with your project.
Car looks great and the installation is professional looking, fits like is was designed to be that way. I'm sure this will power the car nicely.
Good Luck this sumer, let's set some records. :flag:

I run with the SCCA Solo (autocross) group. So, parking lot racing around a bunch of cones. The class I run in is A Modified, which is the theoretical top class. Very little restrictions, up to 20 square feet of wing in top view, 900# minimum weight.

This particular car was built in the early 90s and was designed as a sucker car. That was outlawed very soon after it was built, so it remains the only one of with the odd diamond shape.

The motor is a 2007 Apex, with a GT2860RS turbo, Greg's intercooler and a custom header to fit.

Started it again this afternoon and let it idle for a while. Seems to be doing okay. If the weather holds out, I'll do some tuning this weekend.

What's a sucker car? I would have guessed you were running some kind of oval with the big wings. I wouldn't have thought you get enough speed in parking lot racing to have the aero make that much difference. Cool stuff :flag:

It had a skirt all the way around it and a leaf blower sucking the air out from under the car. All that surface area produced tremendous stick.

The wings are designed to start having some aerodynamic effect as low as 35mph. With the new set, I'll be able to run on the top of a tunnel at 65mph - in theory.

Was a pretty packed weekend. I'm still only doing testing at this point, so no actual racing. I'm REALLY happy with this system that Greg has developed for me. This new motor is much better than the previous. Great throttle response. Easy starting. Much quieter than the two stroke. I was expecting it to be a little harder to drive with the additional power. However, it is much less of an on/off switch than the previous motor and I can modulate much better. Greg picked a great size turbo as well, as I'm not waiting for the boost to build. (Thanks for the wisdom on that - too much lag in what I do is killer.)

There is still tuning to be done. However, I've got one video going through a practice slalom that I'll try to get uploaded on YouTube tonight so I can post here.

In the meantime, I found a few others that were already on YouTube. These will give you a better sense of what we do in "parking lot racing" :) (We tend not to take ourselves too seriously. Truth is, what we do is extremely safe with little chance of vehicle damage. Therefore we tend to run at 10/10ths (and occasionally 11/10ths) since you don't have that fear of hitting the wall that keeps you down to 9/10ths. Greg's system will not only give me more peak power. The smoothness of the delivery will allow me to get on the gas earlier and carry that speed all the way to the next element.

Here is one from a divisional race in our region. It actually has data on it, if you're interested in speed and g force.

Another local event, also with data:

An event with the Porsche Club of America. (They get amused by the guy who brings the "snowmobile")

Those three are on runways at a retired marine base. This one is in a large parking lot, which allows for more deviation in course design:

And one from the airport tarmac in Lincoln, Nebraska in September of last year. This was the SCCA's annual get together of 1200 autocrossers to determine who was the best in each class. (I ended up second - need to change that in 2012.)

Will post the slaloms with the new motor soon....

Here is a quick video from this weekend. This was just a shake down run, making sure the subsystems were working ok and no fluids were leaking. A few runs up and down the slaloms at part throttle will usually make problems known.

Next race is in two weeks. I'll try to get actual video there and more detailed pics of the installed package.

WOW unreal - how much power before and after ?

That sucker car reminds me of the chaparral 2J race car of the late 1960s with the snowmobile engine in the back sucking it to the road.Thats one wild ride(lots of Gs)
