Sopping for enclosed trailer for xtx....

i have a 16' tandem axle v nose trailer with the axles under the trailer. no "tippyness" its simple to get sleds in and out. the trailer has extra room inside due to the deletion of the wheel wells and i added cabinets as well. still 3 sleds in easily

I have never had that feeling with a deck over trailer, I bought a inline thinking it was going to pull and load easier, nope, so now Im back to a deck over and here to stay with.

Not meaning to highjack the thread but was talking to a friend the other day and he said that if I was shopping for a trailer to stay away from the trailers with the wheels under the deck because of tipiness in windy conditions and are harder to tow in general.

Thoughts on this?

I have an inline american hauler trailer and love how the trailer pulls, handles and is easy to load. I have the extension mirrors, but don't need to entend them.

Mine is also for sale as I am buying a new one.

Exact same trailer, but white 22 foot box, 5 foot V

I'm selling mine for $4,000

Goes with it is the mounted toolbox, electrical with lights, helmet bar/rack and spare tire.

Trailer has E-Z off slide-guides and traction matts from front to back.

Almost 7 foot wide inside, Has the full fenders on the outside covering the tires so the total width of the trailer tires and all is 8.5 wide

Different ranges of $$$... Enclosed trailers of that size are generally 2 place trailers, and are the most affordable type out there. Although they look tippy, I've driven mine in side winds of 50+ gusting higher, semi's were tipping over... I don't actually think you could tip it over with wind along, I think the top would rip off first.

Anyway, if you only need a 2 place, a clamshell isn't a bad choice. Won't hurt the budget nearly as much as other types either. The only drawback is that a 8.5 wide clamshell pulls HEAVY going down the road. Between the small tires and the wide profile, its like towing a billboard which has a parachute attached to it. Depends on how much you plan on towing though... I tow twice a year for 350 miles one way, and maybe a couple shorter trips, so its not that much of a pain.

Is it aluminum ?

Budget is the item stopper. But with that said. I had a Clam Shell 2 place. It worked but it is what it is. I now a Sno Pro V nose 2 place. I guess they call it the 12.5 model. It has plenty of room to stand up,ride into and isn't tippy. With the torsion axle it handles bumps so well. Well built. All aluminum.
The Hybrids are nice but aren't built as strong. Compare the frame members and tongue. Not much cheaper. And I bet it won't save you much fuel as it still has lot's of drag and weight.
Sometimes it's just right to buy something that does the job well. I love to ride and have to trailer alot depending on conditions so for the extra few grand I have it made. It holds resale as well being all Aluminum.

I found the same thing. In fact a friend of mine has a steel United trailer 4 place deck over wheels and it pulls MUCH easier then another friend with a aluminum inline 3 place. Were trying to figure out why. The United is only like 5.5-6' tall I have to duck when in there and I think the shorter height is easier to pull.

We pull with 1/2 ton Ford/GM and in the wind the inline aluminum would push the truck all over, while the deck over steel was MUCH better.

I have a new NEO 26 x 7 easily hauls 4. Love being able to SEE both in traffic as well as backing up.

Funny thing happened on purchase this fall. So I go to trailer dealer and talk to a kid, not the normal salesman I have been dealing with, and say why should I buy your trailer over a similar Stealth trailer - same size all aluminum frame and sides etc. instead of selling me on the advantages as I expected. You won't believe this. He says, listen mister we don't make the trailers we just sell them you would have to call NEO manufacturing . So I do, they put me in touch with the factory rep. Dealership. JOHNS TRAILERS in Illinoise and if I drive there it's over 3 grand less than the original quote.

Well I can drive a long way for 3 grand. LOL

Like the 7 ft staggered trailer, pulls harder than I thought but I think that is because I went 7 ft high so can stand up and haul side by sides if ever needed

XTX? Will it fit in a triton enclosed 10' elite! I heard apex attak (ltx) will fit but tight! Anyone know!
Can't you just go and measure the trailer inside at the dealer? Compare it to your XTX.

I don't own a xtx, but was just curious, a buddy owns one and had it in a older 10 enclosed trailer so I assume it will fit. Anyone have accurate measurement of their xtx?
