Specs (20kg less weight than Nytro etc)

why don't all you cry babies just wait and see what people say about them! I am stoked I have a love hate relationship with my nytro but I sure do love that motor!

Lets not forget all of the changes from the 2008 to the 2009 Nitro and how much better the 2009 handled. Still want a first year Viper with all that Cat quality?

Schlorven's posted a site in the general 2014 thread that has the weight it is claiming 219kg or 483lbs. Thats pretty good weight loss, 25lbs actually. Heres a quick comparison.

Doo MXZx 1200 Vs Viper SE: 499 - 483 = 16lbs
Doo MXZx 600 Vs Viper SE: 462 - 483 = -19lbs
Doo MXZx 800r Vs Viper SE: 472 - 483 = -11lbs
Doo MXZx-rs Vs Viper SE: 458 - 483 = -25lbs
AC F-1100 snopro Vs Viper SE: 518 - 483 = 35lbs
AC F-800 snopro Vs Viper SE: 454 - 483 = -29lbs
Poo 600 rush pro-r Vs Viper SE: 464 - 483 = -19lbs
Poo 800 rush pro-r Vs Viper SE: 464 - 483 = -19lbs
Nytro RTX Vs Viper SE : 508 - 483 = 25lbs

all these numbers come from published dry weights. If this is true it shows 4 strokes can be fairly competitive with weight.

People complain about the weight of the Nytro. It wasn't heavy in 2008 and still isn't by 4 stroke standards. In fact I think the only 4 stroke in the Nytro's engine class that's noticably lighter is the doo 4 tek. Everything else weighs about the same as a Nytro

You're on crack if you think the Nytro is not heavy. It's a big brute that wears you out if you're riding in deep snow or rough conditions.

I don't know if the Viper will be any lighter, but let's not get foolish trying to convince ourselves that the Nytro is some kind of lightweight. It's not.

SteelerJim is right though about the weights with the 2013 sleds, the nytro has lost a considerable amount of weight since 2008. The 1200 mxzx is 499lbs and the nytro rtx is 508lbs so not a huge difference. With the nytro on the other hand it feels heavier because of the front end geometry and motor placement. This goes to show you that its not all about weight but where that weight is situated and thats what the viper addresses.

The Viper shouldn't have a 20-30 lbs block of ice under tunnel. That in itself is good enough for me. 40L tank of fuel? I'll take that wet weight thankyou. Its about time...thanks yamaha

I've never done crack

This is what I've heard, the Viper is 467 lbs bone dry. No fluids anywhere, not even in the shocks. 145 hp. It is supposed to be substantially lighter than a Nytro.

We'll have to see what the specs are when they are released.
