Speed of Rage?

Has anyone had a chance to measure the top speed of the Rage compared to any other sleds? I only have about 500 miles on the sled but am very disappointed with total speed. Hole shot is incredible compared to my Viper, but dies out about 40mph. Got beat by a polaris 500 the other day. Have been having trouble with the sled since purchase and maybe this is just another issue to over come.

Suspension settings are important. Don't overtighten your limiter straps. Make sure your control rods are set somewhere near the middle of their range. I am very pleased with my Rage at 500 miles.
I also ride with a very fast xc-500 who was initially beating me but I can handily take him now. (This 500 has always been as fast as both SX-r's in our group and the rider is 50 lb's lighter than me. BTW, do you weigh 750 lb's, cause that would do it.)

No i don't way 750, I just thought the Rage would run with 600 class sleds. I have had a lot of dealer prep issue's and was wondering if this might just be another one. I could also be the plugs are pretty gummed up do to the TORS issue over the last several hundred miles. Before I started to investigate wanted a basis. Sounds to me like maybe I have a slow seld, that is what I get for spanking everyone with the Viper.

Umm....I beat up a 600H.O. ski don't all the time with my Rage....and hang with my buddies Warrior till about 70. Mine does not fall off around 40 at all....pulls hard till about 90 or so....

J, bring it in to your dealer and have them check your carbs and see if they'll sync them. In perfect conditions I can hit 115mph on speedo with still a little left and can run 108-111 with little effort (I weigh 260+ with duds on). I had to do a bit of tweaking with my suspension to get it to hook-up and the more miles I put on the stronger it seems to get.

Can you explain how these settings would affect top end speed? I am not doubting that they do, I would just like to understand the science behind it I guess.

QC, I think what he means is a proper set-up will give you the best hook-up and less track spin. In my case I have it set pretty much the opposite of what SS has stated but it works for me. Before I messed with my suspension I was getting beat pretty bad by a 500 and 550 yet I was hitting 105-108mph(track spin, not hooking-up). Now I spank them from start to finish even though the mph varies. Believe me when I say that I have very little suspension knowledge but with my dealers help and input from this site I was able to get a better handle on what was happening. If you watch the tach you'll get to the point where you can tell (and feel) if your hooking-up or not.

I've hit 112 on my rage in not so good conditions. I can't wait till my sled breaks in even more. I currently have 800 miles or so. I hear the sleds get faster as they get towards 1000 miles. I can't wait!

If your limiter straps are too tight, you will likely have excessive weight on your skis which would slow you down on anything but hardpack. A too tight track will also reduce Vmax. The track tension on the stand is not the track tension during riding, so suspension set up may affect it. (Perhaps Dr. Lazy B could fill in the rest. I have to go.)

Track is set to yamaha specs per manual, as far as limitor strap was actually thinking of tightening it down to avoid front end lift, I am pretty sure I hook fine. Good idea with the carbs, will have to have dealer address them.

jruffel, you say you had alot of dealer prep issues? Who did you buy it from?I live in the Rochester area and have a Vector. I have had no such issues.
