Hey guys, need a refresher here, in regards to a stock SRX skid, I’ve been trying to get my this asphalt setup to sit flat on the tar after having the skid out to do maintenance and I don’t know what changed but it just won’t sit flat to the tar, it sits up at the back. Seems to me this thing sat flat before I took it out to do maintenance, I didn’t do any changes to the shocks or any setup while it was out and now since I’ve put it back in the back is about half an inch off the ground.
I did forget to tighten up the limiter straps (totally loose and just sitting there) and thought that was it so I tightened those up as much as I could. It seemed to help a bit but I don’t think that had much to do with it. My buddy that runs an Arctic Cat said that if I want to pull up the rails at the front I have to loosen that limiter straps, not tighten, I don’t think that’s the case. When I sit on it, it seems to be flat, but I don’t think that’s right. The idea is to get the track as flat to the tar as possible. Question is, how to do that? Will softening the front shock/spring take care of that? Will letting out the limiter straps do that or does that just adjust front ski pressure? How about adjusting the rear shock/spring? This is a 2000 SRX with a stock skid and does not have the adjustments on the transfer rods either. The sled does not wheelie but does spin off the line most of the time and 60’s are everywhere, mostly in the 1.4’s to the low 1.5’s. So where do I start to set the front shock, rear shock, limiter straps, etc.? The sled is lowered down quite well. Here’s a couple of pics from the weekend, not the greatest but that’s all I got for now. I may have to take more because it's hard to see with the shadow.
I don’t get it, I’ve been doing this for some time now and can’t seem to nail down what the problem is. I remember my stock skid on my RX1 was the same and could never get that one to lay flat, but I’m sure this one did before I messed with it. Terry pipe in here if you can!!!!
