Haven't had much time to ride my 2023 SRX due to the wife having a baby. We had finally gotten enough snow around my area to go out riding, I managed to put a few hundred KM on it Saturday (Bought it as a new left over from the dealership last year)
Yesterday I took my dad out and let him ride my new 23 SRX while I rode my tuned 2017 Sidewinder, we came up to a road crossing and somehow when he came up onto the road (dirt/Gravel) the left ski bit and caused him to lay my sled down onto its left side. The tether never came off the machine, so he got up and turned it off. Once I realized what had happened and got back to the road he was in shock at to what had happened, we flipped the sled off its side and made sure he was alright. Gave it a few minutes, checked the oil level in the oil tank and it seemed fine, I have the roll over delete and didn't notice and oil coming out of my looped hose. We started the sled and there were no codes, went to move it off the road and it smoked blue smoke for a split second. Other than the cosmetic damage to the sled it seemed to run fine the last 65 km home. have already started pricing out replacement panels, spindle etc. I am just worried if this could have caused any harm to the engine? What are your guy's thoughts?

My riding partner did the same thing also. No harm to the engine. He did it before we did his rov delete and it sent off a code. Replaced oil sensor and all has been good, 2000 miles later.

No worries. Engine has both an oil pressure sensor (will shut engine off if there's no pressure) and an oil flow sensor (will shut engine off if there's no oil flow).Haven't had much time to ride my 2023 SRX due to the wife having a baby. X2. Engine has good "failsafe" on board. And since he shut it off before the failsafe kicked in you're even safer. And you likely won't see oil coming out if tipped on left side.
I tip my sleds all the time in the hills, but I like having the tether on my arm in case I'm still on it.

Thanks for the reassurance, guys. Now I just have to purchase parts to repair all the cosmetic damage.

Are you sure about this? I’m pretty sure it has an oil pressure sensor and an oil pressure switch. The only reason the switch is present is to integrate properly with the CAT display. It also provides some level of redundancy I suppose. No worries. Engine has both an oil pressure sensor (will shut engine off if there's no pressure) and an oil flow sensor (will shut engine off if there's no oil flow).

I don't think they do. When the oil tank seal blow out on my 23 SRX and puked all the oil out it ran until the rod bearings went and put a hole in the crankcase. With 57 miles on it.No worries. Engine has both an oil pressure sensor (will shut engine off if there's no pressure) and an oil flow sensor (will shut engine off if there's no oil flow).

As an engineer in the automotive industry focusing on engines and powertrains, I can state this is not correct. There are flow sensors on the market. These must be placed inline with the flow and most work on a Venturi principle to convert pressure through a fixed Venturi to flow.Pressure switch and flow sensor are same thing.
Pressure sensors on the other hand only sense pressure. If one were to completely block the oil rifle downstream of a pressure sensor, it would still read a high but in range value. The same done downstream of a real flow meter and the reading would fall to 0 (GPM, LPM).

To me, on these 998s, if there is no flow past the flow sensor, ECU will shut engine off, regardless if oil pressure sensor sees pressure or not.As an engineer in the automotive industry focusing on engines and powertrains, I can state this is not correct. Both the oil pressure sensor and the oil pressure switch are T'd into the oil passage. There is no FLOW into or out of the sensor itself. If it was a flow sensor, ALL of the oil would have to flow into and then out of the sensor. To me, on these 998s, if there is no flow through the sensor, ECU will shut engine off, regardless is pressure sensor sees pressure or not.
Again, these sense PRESSURE, not FLOW. I do agree that flow with a down stream restriction (bearing clearances, oil holes, etc.) will create the pressure that is being sensed.

My buddy's light came on and it was too late. ROV bypass line got kinked and blew oil tank gasket. Good bye motor.I thought I read if the warning light comes on its already to late and damage has been done.
