anyone got a easy way to fix or replace a starter on a 07 phazer. could really use some good advice here guys.

my starter makes a whining noise but wont turn over the engine. i just replaced the battery and still the same thing. according to the service manual you pretty much got to take the motor out to get at it which sucks #*$&@

Follow the instructions on the the front end removal, it looks scary but it is really just nuts and bolts after you get passed the airbox removal.

My guess would be that you starter bolts backed out and the started is no longer aligned.

Once you get to the started there is a green line I think that needs to be lined up.

Line em up and make it snug then take out the bolts one at a time using locktite and torque them.

I have not personally but i have not had a problem with mine. If you have not gotten the bolts locktited and since it is an 07 I would bet that the bolts just backed out and the started is not toast unless you kept turning it over trying to start it too long.

X2.

My starter just crapped out 2 weeks ago, a dealer told me they basically pull the motor to get to it. Sled's under warranty still so I hope it's covered by YES...

We just got more snow and the season's not over yet so I'm gonna ride it as is till the trails are no more.

Starting it off the clutch isn't that hard to do. It started cold last night after just 3 pulls. Turn the sled on, let it prime and then pull it over-worked good.

Good luck, hope it's nothing major. ;)!

If you follow cannondales how to I posted a link to you don't have to take the engine out. Once you get passed the air box it's just nuts and bolts. Very easy with his directions.

awsome

followed the instructions and had the starter fixed and sled put back together, with a bonus oil change, in about three hours thanks for the help.

You probably saved yourself a grand. :rocks:

Mine's been @ the dealer over a week now, waiting on a starter (it was toast as thought to be). One bolt holding it together was almost out, the other 1/2 way. Maybe a good thing it crapped when it did.
Should be under warranty (I hope), lists for $407 new I was told- holy shite!!

Mechanic told me he gets them out through the bottom of the sled, guess it's in a pretty tight spot?

Isn't it funny how one dealership says something totally different than the next on things? :o|

Snow's gone, get the bike out soon. ;)!
