Hi guys I have a question here that maybe somebody can answer. My starter has made some funny noises the last couple rides, I think I may have cranked it too long. Anyway it starts fine but today I was cleaning the clutches and rotated the primary backward and I heard a grinding noise and felt some vibration. I dont have time to take it all apart right now so I am looking for ideas. If I rotate the clutch forward it makes no noise or vibration. Could it be stuck in the engaged position? Thanks for any help.

1) What you heard was normal. Spinning the engine backwards engages the starter via the one-way clutch.
2) Rotating the engine backwards will NOT cause any problems.
