Are you TRACKING or DARTING? I have stock ski's but have 6.5" carbid sharper bars on and I can drive that thing one handed at any speed. Now it does TRACK fairly good in which it runs in the ski groove already there from the sled in front of me. It will jump in and out coming up to stop signs. Also while running down the trail. DARTING is when on a smooth trail for no reason it turns on you. Real sloppy steering will cause this. Lots of people get those two things mixed up. I had a long talk about this on our last trip in Jan. The guys thought what was darting was actually tracking.

Mine DARTED until I made some changes, skis were installed that helped a bit then shimmed them that helped alot then did proper ski alignment that finished the deal.
Putting the ski spacers to outside helps "tracking" also.Gets the width wider than most ski tracks so it doesnt follow them.

OK, all is good now. Decided to check the ski alignment today....wow, were they off! One ski was pointing severely to the inside and the other was slightly to the inside. Did a ski alignment, with both of them slightly toe out and it is really nice now. No darting. I can't believe those ski were so far out of alignment, that will teach me a nice lesson on checking simple things like that! Thanks for everyone's help....too bad the temps are in the mid 40's today and all next week. We will certainly loose most of our trails. Still some winter left, I hope in our area or I may have to trailer it north!
Yea its not looking good here either.Man trails were nice this weekend though.Hope everyone just takes week off trails and they survive.PhazerWi you should put your location in your signature.Where in WI you at.

The reason for a slight tow out is that it will cause the sled to slightly steer the way you lean. You lean to the right, the weight transfers to right, giving the right ski more bite, and with the ski slightly pointing to the right, causes the sled to go slightly right. Toe in does the opposite, doing everything right causes you to go slightly left which gives it a very bad handling "feel" but causing even more pressure on the ski making it bite even harder causing you to lean the opposite way to correct it. AKA, darting.

There, I added my location to my profile, that should make it show up now.
It has topped out at 45 this afternoon. I rode this morning before it got too warm, but I can hear the roar of sleds in the distance on the trail with people trying to get in another ride. The trails will certainly take a hit......

I got simmons flex ski on my phazer. I dont have alot of weight on my front end. I got my limiter strap loosened right of and darting went down significantly. Not sure what carbides I got but they seem to work good
