They used to! Back not long ago, before form follows function became the buzz words.
As a side note I have to say I'm size animal and loving it! Bounty knows better than to chime in!

Nope they don't! Still waiting for a 150 efi powered 144 inch tracked two up touring sled. 2001 was the last year a sport touring was made. I still have my 2000 1000 tripple touring. Enough power and room for me and one wide eyed white knuckled passenger. Catillac indeed in every sense of the word. Biggest sled with the biggest motor and biggest windshield plus a shroud large enough for a 6'4" frame to hide behind. What every Sasquatch needs.
Wind protection is taking a back seat to snowcross syled and inspired sleds. Touring in sub Zero temps all day is not a prime concern anymore.

Maybe sasquatch needs to get a road bike and ride on hot days. JK.
Have one thanks ride it every summer. Has a nice windshield. I live however for winter and even though you imply that I am a wimp and should change hobbies. I have to say not in this lifetime my friend. I love living in snow country and have been sledding for 40 plus years.
I think I have earned a little wind protection!

well i'm in the same boat as Mighty as far as comparison. my dealer is a yami and doo dealer. they have a 800r and a nytro rtx side by side. seeing pics of the nytro doesn't do it justice, in person it is SWEET! the 800r on the other hand, really cheap looking and the fastners for the side panels(what a joke) can't tell me they won't break at -10F. i really don't like the exposed chaincase either. i'm sure it is light but no thanks. my dealer said he ordered 12 nytros and that is it for yamis(lots of left overs) i was in 2 months ago and all he had was the nytro on the floor(harley and honda dealer too) along with bikes. i said "where is the new doo? i thought you would display that." he said "the nytro is they eye catcher" he also told me now that he has both on the floor, he has seen twice as many people look at the nytro over the xp. so i guess it is all in what you like as far as looks because honestly in the last few years sleds have raised the bar in the looks department, the conventional sled appearence is gone(along with wind protection)

Well I had my chance to do the in person comparison. Took my Yamahas to the dealer for pre-season servicing and stopped in at the Doo dealer which is on the way home.
I spent a while BSing with the guys at my Y dealer discussing the Nytro and Apex lines. Noticed some of the subtle changes here and there between my 06 and the 08s on the floor.
Made a point to stop in to the Doo dealer to finally see the almighty XP in person. Like a lot of cars, and sleds today, it looks better in person. Even if the styling is a lot more contrived then the Apex with its ridiculous angularity, it looks OK. Lifting the rear bumper doesn't seem a whole lot different then lifting the rear bumper of a Nytro or even a Apex. Of course lifting the front of the 600SDI it really is light. Now whether or not this machine lives up to hype is definitely yet to be seen and credit goes to ski-doo for impressively engineering every spare ounce and gram out of this thing. But to me there really is the rub.
Taking a close look you can see how EVERY piece has been value and weight engineered to make it as thin as possible. Most of the parts look disposable. Compare the steering riser to those on your Yamaha. There's thicker plastic on my baby daughter's bouncy activity center. I would love to know what calculus they dreamed up to describe this thing as 37% stronger than the previous chassis which I took the time to compare since one was sitting right next to the 08. The swiss cheese running boards look cool and light but definitely give much more than the previous chassis. I also found that the brackets that hold the front of the running boards to the chassis at the footwells looked like my former landlord, a dairy farmer, welded them in the shop out back, still had burn marks on them. (He did a great job braizing my old enitcer muffler after hitting a tree). I also am skeptical of riding with my feet basically INSIDE of the clutch cover on one side and so close to the chaincase on the other.
Me and my heavy Apex MAY get smoked on the lake and the twistys and I'm curious to ride an XP but I can't imagine how these things are going to hold up to much abuse. Maybe ski-doo wants to increase its parts business. I would never have chosen the XP over either an Apex or a Nytro. Just my opinions.

I agree the rev xp i saw was ok in my opinion looks really cheap the plastic is thiner etc. the one on the floor had a broken panel at the dealership the clip or connecter was busted off. the durability looks a lot better on the nytro. I was really wondering about the skid frame drilled and the floor boards it's kinda scary. This may be rumor but i heard this from my buddy that races, a race team had the bulkhead start to separate from the tunnel! Time will tell we're gonna have to wait for some snow to see who's sled is gonna perfom and hold up.

The riding reviews are mixed. The power and speed is excellent on the 800, weight light, but ALL reviews point out tat due the light sled, vibrations from the engine turns your arms numb quickly. Not a long haul sled by any means, only for quick trips and at high speed caused a feeling of tippyness compared with a apex which rides smother with the extra weight. FYI

I have not seen either sled in person. I love the Nytro looks other than the small windshiled. The Rev never fit me or my style so I don't even look at them. I don't pound the trail hard thru the bumps any more (welll not much) so the light weight is not that big of a deal either. What is important to me is the smooth 4 stroke motor that make big power. I have less in this sled in mods then any other modded sled that I have ever had and only my HTG 900 Ultra would beat it. I think I could be very happy with a new Nytro but I will stick with my 05 RX1 for now. By the way I love the retro style.

last year 5 of my riding buddies bought brand new doos every one of them took a dump in a major way. doo backed up the problem and took care of them. but it was a lonely winter for me on my apex in which irode the hell out of and had no probems. 2 other of my friends are buying doos this year these guys are die hard dooers and i think it was the hardest decision they have ever made in their life scratching their heads and wondering if these sleds were going to work for them the only thing they were confident about was that they liked the looks. the decision shouldnot be that agonizing. and to top it all off has anybody actually seen in mag or person the xp 163? i have not! i have been to many shows and read many mags and articles and i still have not seen one, i dont think they exsist.
The xp looks good, the nitro looks hot, i think the nitros looks are an extention to the great things yamaha is doing inside and out, I really feel if yamaha is not the leader in the snowmobile industry right now, they will be by tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's the same for me. I wouldn't say that i disliked it from the beginning. I just thought it looked different. But it's been growing on me ever since and now i think it looks, new, fresh, still different but as a good thing. Especially with the graphics you have on yours, like the windshield too. I take one look at a new Polaris or AC and they look outdated imo. The only other sled that's a bit interesting is the XP but i'm not interested in two-strokes.

I had to got back to my dealer and pick up some bike accessories for my new FZ1 and they had another Nytro on the floor. It was the white one with yellow graphics. This model is starting to grow on me to. I love the seat and quality of components. It definately is a higher quality unit compared to the Rev. It had a slightly larger windshield that looked like it might actually provide some protection. If all my buddies wouldn't have bailed on this sport I could see one of those in my shop. Gonna keep the Rage for those occaisional snow storms here in mid Michigan.
