Replacing the stub shaft bearing on the Nytro and Sidewinder, local spot doesn't have them, can get them from cat, assuming they are the same bearing and will fit both sleds?

As far as I know, it should be a 6307-2RS-C3 bearing.

This bearing would likely also be good. The -2RD suffix on the Koyo bearings is a light contact seal which is meant for higher speed applications. This is the type of bearing used for the clutch side jackshaft bearing as well as the jackshaft bearings on the older Japan-built sleds like Apex, Vector, Nytro, etc. It is a Koyo part #6307-2RD (also a C3 clearance bearing).

Has anyone seen one of these bearing fail?

The one on my 2011 nytro sounds bad, have apart and spinning sounds like sand in a bottle being spun. I re greesed it 2 yrs ago and was fine at the start of the year. Has 15,000 miles. Will also be replacing the one on my winder this year.

I had heard of the odd failure back in the Nytro days. I replaced my Nytros with 20,000km. The grease inside was drying and getting chunky. Failure was not imminent, and it likely would have went a few more thousand km's.

Just had the pto bearing off my SW the other week to see how it spun. It was fine and there was no signs it was going bad. Sled has 17,000 km right now so will run it 1-2 more seasons before replacing

But to answer your question - surprisingly there are very few failures. But it is something to be keep an eye on.
