I posted 2 weeks ago asking for anyone who has studded one of these sleds. I received 3 replys saying go ahead but make sure you install tunnel protectors. The thing is ,I can't find a dealer that supplies one for that machine and 2 dealers have told me,they stud those sleds without protectors using a 1.325 woody stud. I looks like I have approx 1 inch of clearance between the track lug and heat excanger. and using that stud and making sure my track tension is correct , it looks` like it maybe ok
I would appreciate any thoughts on this bit of confusion.

I am going to have my Vector GT LTX studded. When I take it in I will let you know but that sounds right for when they did my Apex. Use the high bolts.

I got my Venture Tf studded with the tunnel protectors by my dealer. Im in Canada and the part number for the tunnel/exchanger protector on the Yamaha canadian website under accessories for the Venture GT is
SMA-8ET21-50-10. I could not find this part on the US website.

I would not stud without the protectors cause its big bucks if something happens and it only takes one good mogul at the wrong speed and everythings ripped..I've heard thats happened a couple of times with the VK

X2....
I see rubber marks on both the exhaust line & the exchanger, thanks to my former 1 1/4 Ripsaw. Ya know.. these need sloppy track tension to ease up slide's usage & humming noise so it does'nt take too much of a kick to do damage.
I now use a pre-studed Ice-Attack with no protector however this track is only an inch profile. Still, came around my mind.

When studding a LTX with 1.325/1.40 studs, the factory protectors do not offer enough protection. You have to add additional material (.5 minimum) to these protectors.

Most use aluminum bar, tube or Hyfax material.

There have been many post showing this.

When I picked up my GT the dealer's Demo 09 GT was on the show room floor, sold but still there. Anyhow, it was studded by the dealer and tunnel protectors were added. According to the dealer they are needed with the GT. I did a search for them in the past and they are available, FYI

I would stud it with 108. I had it doen to the 2010 LTX vector and it is handling awesome.

2009 RS Venture Studding and tunnel protection Part #

I just bought a 2009 Venture with 110kms on it and people are telling me i need to stud up for for braking and ice. Woodys says 1.325" for the 1.250 Ripsaw track.
When I look the tunnel protection on the Canadian web sites, it shows that the SMA-8ET21-50-10 fits 2007- 2012 Venture @ $205 / kit. The US web sites don't show tunnel protection for 2009 but they do have SMA-8ET21-50-01 that fits 2005-2007 @ $115/kit. The photos look the same.
Can anyone tell me if these parts are both the same? Is the tunnel the same under a 2007 and 2009? Looking forward to getting back into snowmobiling after being away from it since 1980.

05-11 RS Venture uses those SMA-8ET21-50-01 and the 09 to current Fuel Injected Venture GT doesn't have anything offered for them and is different due to the new exhaust design.

Jst double checking, for the RS Venture your saying 108 picks? What picks do you recommend? Size?

09-12 Venture Gt stud protectors are only availible in Canada. With cost, shipping fees and many taxes your close to $300 to the US. Bought mine from a dealer right above Monteal.
