I usually make up my own template.I'm a firm believer in using double backers. There is more supports so the the backers don't cut into the track.

X2, or go round backers! Ask me how I know :o|

I'm planning on doing the same and was thinking 192 studs, why go with the round backers? I noticed in another post somewhere not to use round, i realize these are just opinions but would like to here what happened IRV?

Don't forget, you have an odd number of lugs, 57, in the 144 track. If you went 4-2-4- all the way around, that would give you 190 studs, 3-3-3, will give you 171, 2-3-4, will also give you 171, and 2-2-4, will give you 152.

I bought the woodys template and it worked out great for me (i didnt have to think about measurements) but i put 114 on mine and it worked out great, great hookup on hard pack!

I did 114 down the middle of my XTX and used the Woody's template. I also used round backers, they dont get out of square with the track like square ones do. I hope it snows somtime soon and I will let you know how they hook.
