**studding warning **

wont win any races lol fine for basic braking traction...will spin on hard acceleration

Yes I know its not the best
Spent $30 on a cardboard track template (what a joke)
I thought it would come with different patterns

Did you check with 2000srx here?

Damn I wish I didn't miss that
Don't have time to wait now, one of the SW in my garage is heading out Friday
I will look at modifying my current template and go with the design Mac Studs told me
Basically a V pattern the go back and add a 3rd stud per bar between the others

Here's what I ended up with. 180 INS Hornets 1.64 length. Installed in RTX. I got 24 scratch lines and avoided the center 3.85 inches of the track to miss the dreaded louvre.

Let us know how that hooks up.

can't see them holding up .i've got 1.450" studs and tried the 1/2" alumn.nuts but kept bending studs .went with the taller nut ,all's good now for trail riding .

Does anyone have a picture of the diagram that was included on the memo sent out to the dealers from Cat warning of the studding issue? If so, post it because I don't think everyone is aware there's more to it than just avoiding the exact middle. I saw an email version that was from Camoplast to Cat, which was forwarded to a Wi dealer. Wish I would've taken a pic.

I've ran 1.64s in every Turbo sled I've owned and they hold up. Wouldn't keep going back to the well if they didn't. But to each there own, stud how you like.

Same person that told me about it /dealer. Everyone on here said I was bat #*$&@ crazy. Just stud it! If your really nervous stay out of the middle. I have NOT used any template for the last three sleds I had including the winder. My template is in my head. I usually do a paper version first then do it! Nice V patterns and a few extra tight to the rails. And also outside the window.

Maybe I am paranoid. Just know that I am no expert and only going by what someone, whom I assume is, is saying. Ken's didn't say anything to my brother. So, it's all confusing to me.
:dunno:

to all that wish to just stud it...its your 15k machine to do with as you wish...I like my solution....its workable...I dont want my vent shredded...

and I dont want a plastic add on to the coolant rails to and from the cooler IMHO lessening cooling efficiency...

none of us truly know....its all just speculation and opinions right now...

so Im being generous and letting the brave sould test and try everything risky...
