I am building a new track (1.25" Rip2 137") so I wanted to explore studding weights between Woodys Megabite, Stud Boy Lake Racer, Woodys double alum plates, Stud Boy ProLite backers (both double and single).
I was curious about difference between 1.575" Megabite compared to 1.625" Stud Boy Lake Racer.
The two studs are same length. (Pic1)
1.625" Lake Racer = 19.14 gms ea.
1.575" Megabite = 22.27 gms ea.
4 x 1.625" Lake Racer + 2 Stud Boy ProLite double backer = 76.55 gms (pic 2)
4 x 1.575" Megabite + 2 Woodys double alum plates + tall alum nuts = 148.7 gms (pic 3)
4 x 1.575" Megabite + 2 Woodys double alum plates + short alum nuts = 142 gms (pic 4)
4 x 1.625" Lake Racer + 4 single ProLite backers = 124.9 gms (pic 5)
4 x 1.575" Megabite + 2 Stud Boy Prolite double backer = 122 gms (pic 6)
Pic 7 is summary listing of various combinations. My tentative plan is to run 240 Megabite studs all mounted on ProLite backers - run 1.450" Megabite in outside belts and 1.575" in center. Total weight = 16.4 lbs.
I've been running ProLite for about 7 years on 2 different sleds with great success and next to zero problems with breaking or cracking. Obviously I don't spin over rocks, boulders, tree roots, cement curbs, railroad tracks, etc. (Stage 4 320 HP).
Bottom line is Megabites are 16% heavier than Lake Racers (probably about same for Triggers). ProLites are about 18% lighter than aluminum plates w alum nuts.

I am thinking this is pretty much a lake racer set up, will it be used on the trail at all?
I am curious how much difference the added weight on the track makes at that HP level?

Nice work and thanks for sharing this. I did a similar exercise back in the 1990's with a goal of using maximum penetration with the least amount of rotating mass for our Thundercats. We did the excercise for drag racing purposes. We ran a speed track with light pics. For historical purposes, back then the lightest pics were home made using one inch Ramsets screwed into stainless steel Tnuts with red locktight. Great on ice! LOL

I run a 5-4-5-4 pattern of 3 triggers with 2 chisels in double - 4 triggers and repeat in mine on trail. 1.25 ripsaw and 1.63 studsI am thinking this is pretty much a lake racer set up, will it be used on the trail at all?

Just want to point out that you forgot to add the weight of the backers to the top line (lake Racer) set up.
They should weigh 109.47 grams
This would make the Lake Racer set up 8.74% lighter than the equally backed Megabite set up.
192 Megatbite set up being 12.9 lbs vs 192 Lake Racer set being 11.57 lbs
