I just put 96 studs on the phazer. I did not put a tunnel protector on. Looks like plenty of clearance between exchangers and studs. I know they recommend the protector. Anyone else running studs without the protector?

Thats a good question i just picked up an 08 phazer for my wife also have 96 woodys' i have'nt studded it yet trying to pick up a set of used protectors on this site. I am leary of studding without protectors..

Rivet an old set of Hifax under the tunnel... cheap easy way to ensure you won't tear up the back end of your sled. I would never ride a studded sled without protectors.

don't have any on mine but have some markings of when i jumped on the rear & pinched the throttle.(dumb move on my part) marks are just on the rear hole where covered.
under avg. riding, not jumping it, just trail riding you can probably get away with none.
(but i know not recommended.)

I think the potential consequences are too much vrs. $100.00 protectors.
Just get them on it Id say. I bought some and dont even have studs yet.
My Buddies Polaris learned the hard way..... Im protecting my Phazer from day one...not worth the risk.

That was my stock track the first year I had the sled and those are 1.080" Studboy Power Points. Now I have the freeride on the sled with 1.625" Power points.

jesus those are big. im surprised u didnt do double backers i have the 1.5 freeride and i was told studs wouldnt fit.

I was just asking becaues they looked a little taller then 1.080. I just didnt think the 1.080 could get theat close, but then again I am lighter.
