I guess the spindle is the weak point, thinking back I guess the spindle's are hollow?

housings are prob. fine. spindles are toast.
I would drop the spindle out but I'll bet the splines in the aluminum arm that the spindle comes up in to are stripped. I would think they would shear before the spindle would twist. Either way you would then be able to inspect both as your problem has to be in that area.
I know I would agree, but the splines were perfect. I got the new spindles from Pat's Yamaha and Kip said he's never seen the splines damaged it's the spindles that twist normally. My stupidity cost me $200, but it could be worse!

Key lesson never pull a sled by both ski tips. Got yelled at back in the 70,s for that one. Ooops!
