Hit a rock yesterday, the spindle is straight down. Ski is gone back about 3-4 inches.
I looked at my sub frame, don't see any paint gone or twists where it could of bent on the lower part.

Do the a arms twist or the subframe? Anyway to tell if the sub frame is damaged with out taking everything apart?

The sled still rides fine the shock is not hitting.
This is an 08 mountain, i find it too tippy on the trails, if it's just the a arm I think I would look for a set of wider arms off a trail sled. Would they fit with fox floats?

Thanks.

being that it's an 08 frame it's probably twisted out of square. Look at the frame tubing were the rubber steering rod boot is riveted. The frames tend to buckle there. Also look down through the nose with the hood removed and align the cross tube with the lower a-arm mount.

nytros are notorious for twisting the sub frames. but could be the lower a arm. hard to see on the frame, they usually twist at the welds. my buddy has replaced 2 in a year. ins for the first and yamaha warranted the second. yes they ride fine. im sure many are out there on the trails with twisted frames. as for changing to wider a arms, your floats will not work.

Hearnoevil, look at the bottom plate, round circle, you will see it twisted there also if it is indeed twisted.
Good luck with it man, been there!

No center gusset in a 08 subframe

Thanks for the clarification grizz. I just found the pic doing a google search.

BTW hearnoevil, I have a right side upper and lower arm that is in great shape, left side is no good!
$200 for the pair, including balljoints, from an 09 xtx, 2 seasons on them if you are interested?

Hey Grizz, my '08 has the center gusset. I suspect a dark and mysterious past... I did buy it used!

If it has the center gusset then it's been replaced. I had my 08 subframe replaced with a 2009 frame under warranty but it didn't take me long to bend that one also.

I'm gonna have to take the steering boots off to look. still not seeing a twist.

The float came back and dented the upper a arms.
I might run the dam this this year, it's not like it was great handling to start with, middle of February now and i only had 2 rides.

How much do these frames go for in Canada? It use to be cheaper in the states but i think Canada fixed its pricing?
I bought springs from the states cause it was cheaper, but last time i bought ball-joints the prices were pretty close.

I have left side upper and lower and upper right in great shape including balljoints and oilites if someones interested. The lower right is bent but the balljoints could be reused

Well looks like i can get both sides.... but i still can't see where the subframe is bent or the arms.

Shouldn't it be obvious.. or at least paint flaked off?

It's normally hard to see. It only takes a small angle change at the frame to make a significant change in alignment out at the spindles.
