I agree with some others that the kits are over priced. Hopefully with more competion the price will drop. I for one would be more interested in a kit priced much closer to $2800 - $3200.

just my opinion.

After rereading my opinion above I realize my wording could have been better. I see how it could be inferred by using the term "over-priced" that the quality or workmanship is cheap. That was not my intent at all. The point I was trying to make was that the price, prices some interested consumers out of the market.

As much as I would like to see them cheaper, I'm not going to hold my breath. They won't come down till a few more companies start producing them. As it is right now, sounds like they sell them all. They won't drop till there is excess inventory.

Unfortunately I don't believe you'll see the price drop as far down to $3000 area. Down to the $4000 area, possibly, but with all the costs of machining and the cost of the unit itself, you wouldn't make a dollar at $3000. If you were to drop it down to the $3000 area you'd likely get less HP and a lower quality unit as well.

price

Don't count on the price of our current kits to drop much, there is a huge amount of machine and assembly time required for this kit and I think anyone who installs our kit will agree that the product is well worth the cost. I have seem estimates on what people think our s/c would cost without the kit and nobody is close. It is generaly 4 times the cost of any turbo and at least twice the average small s/c. Our s/c is a purpose built billet traction drive unit with a bearingless output shaft that spins in excess of 150,000 rpm(faster than most turbos). I like to think of installing a turbo as nothing but a plumbing job with no real machined brackets or precision pieces. So all this being said, why haven't the turbo guys dropped their prices? The answer is supply and demand.

This doesn't mean that there shouldn't be a low boost low cost kit available for the average consumer, and I'm sure there will be soon. I do know it will not be with our current blower or current setup, overhead would not allow it.

Superabe, I agree with your statement 110% after installing your kit you can see what machining and engineering went into the production unit. Most people haven't seen this kit in person and are judging just on the fact that it's a supercharger so it should be less, but in all truth there is more in your kit than most turbo kits in my opinion! Not to take anything away from the turbo guys either. It's a supply and demand market and right now there is demand to be met with the current pricing and availability so pricing will probably not go down on any supercharger or turbo kit.

Unless you have seen the Mountain Kit, sugg one not attempt to pass judgement on value... THey have a first rate kit.... I would not buy on price alone on either a turbo or supercharger..... I do not own one, nor plan to purchase one soon as i have a great running turbo... , but i did take the time to check it out in person and i was very impressed.... great job mountain !

I have it on good athority (sp) that there will be a SC kit out for around the $3000 to$3500 range and from a very reputable company.

I won't say who untill it is confermed

I love all these rumors, lol. Competition is good, it makes us all strive to be better.

I wasn't posting this to start a rumor or to bad mouth anybody or anything of the sort, MPI, MCX or who ever can produce a very quality product and I comend them and any one else that has the fortitude to do so. I am also in manufacturing and my products are always being put to the test on a daily basis so I know about how much $ it takes to make a Quality Product, and if you think building stuff for sleds and cars is bad you should try working with the FAA! :o|

No harm no foul I just don't want to start no S%*t !! or anything like that......

hottshot, no harm no foul! Like I said, competition is what makes a person work that much harder to make his product better!

It's cool Hottshot, I didn't take it negatively. I was just commenting that I think I know who the competition is.

No prob guys like I said I just didn't want any body to think I was starting stuff ya know ;)!

If ya want check out my web site and hit the Video link and get a little Idea of what I do

Have a good one guys!!
