I plan on changing out my front suspension bushings with Oilites and also plan on doing and using OFT's steering bushings this off season.

Just curious who has all used OFT's steering bushings and if so did it tighten things up considerably?
I will need 3 for my Vector but I thougth I read somewhere where someone also mentioned about changing out the ones in the front of the sled as well?

OFT only makes 3 and none for this area, should they just be replaced with the factory bushings or are the OFT's all I need?

Hey Irv,

Allen Ulmer has an oilite kit for the front suspension on your sled. High quality kit. Way better option than the OEM plastic ones.

The easiest way to check for wear is to lift one side of the sled up and see how much play there is in the a-arm bushings where they mount to the chassis.

I used the OFT steering blocks and wrote up a review in the mod results section. I was VERY impressed afterwards and I was VERY skeptical going into it I wanted to prove they didn't do anything but they are awesome, great innovative product and I still cant believe how much it tightend things up.

Highly reccomended!

They work great you have to pull the seat and gas tank to change them. You make also have to replace the tierod ends they wear out fast and give you a lot of play to.

Thanks guys, good info.

Kinger, I just read your review and I am glad to hear about the results again but I am curious about the grease subject that I don't think you ever got an answer for?
http://www.ty4stroke.com/viewtopic.php?t=86657

I assume the OFT and the Ulmer's set "do not" nor is it recommended to use grease while assembling or anytime after?

Is it not the nature of the Oilite material to actually provide lube while in use?

Also curious Kinger if you did any other bushings other than the 3 OFT recommends? I am curious about the ones in the area of the nose cone under the air box to the front?

Check the bushings on the steering mechanism shown below when you have it torn down too.

The taper fit tierod end on thebottom of the steering post wears out quickylt as well.

Yeah, I did all the OFT steering system bushings and it tightened the front end up tremendously!

For the money spent it was a huge return on the investment....just do it!

X2...

Excellent mod IMHO. Great stuff from great guys over there at OFT!

What was gained by doing these bushings other than play in the handlebar? More precise handling, less darting...?

Darting is caused/ exacerbated by many factors. Steering slop is one of those factors. So yes, these blocks willhelp to permanently reduce darting.

Hope they got many in stock, plan on doing this to my warrior and my bros nytro(sounds like a easy mod with good results).

Thanks addict, those are the ones I was trying to mention in my first post, I was curious how many replaced those?

I haven't seen or heard of any aftermarket parts to cure that, so is the only option to replace with OEM parts?

Thanks guys ;)!
