It's been done by me in past. Difference is I saw it and replaced battery. Hard to believe he didn't see it but it's possible.

So is there a better and or lighter option to the winder battery? Can’t believe it’s only a year old and doesn’t hold a charge,,,,,,,,junk

5 years and 10000mi on my stocker and still going strong. Its luck. Sometimes you get one that lasts other times they go in less than a year. If I replace ever it will be another Yuasa just like it or Deka which is made in PA. Then cross my fingers. Sorry. Thats my experience with batteries. So is there a better and or lighter option to the winder battery? Can’t believe it’s only a year old and doesn’t hold a charge,,,,,,,,junk

What Cannon Dale says... And it's still under warranty... Or should be Goodwill by Yamaha... What I have found if a guy accidentally drains it down to a low enough point... And temps go below freezing... The fluid freezes? And the battery is junk....
So a good battery tender solves that... And I've even revived dead ones with a desulfater charger
