are they really needed when studding the Ripsaw on the Attak????

Going with 108 Double backers????

Consernd about the added weight LaLaLa

Dont think so my buddy used regular nuts on his fst switchback and had 8 bend right over .I also have 168 single double pattern

i went with the shorties on my apex. broke/bent 5 studs over the season last year. and i rode hard in marginal snow. No tearouts/pull throughs. if something has to give, i'd rather it be the studs and not the track.

I had 32 bent/broken studs from the cappy conditions last year. I've ordered the tall nuts after doing a search here and finding nothing but good. I think the tall aluminum nuts are no heavier then the steel you are replacing. I didn't use them initially for the same reasons...but from what I have read my concerns were unfounded.

I used 168 1.450 megabites with round backers and woodys tall nut. Best setup I've ever run. No breaks or tear outs.

Did you guys use lock tight on the tall nuts and lock washers?

YUP LOCK TITE FOR SURE , I USED THE REMOVABLE KIND SO IF A STUD BENDS OR WHAT NOT CAN REPLACE IT WITHOUT HEATING THE STUD RIGHT UP ( BUT THEN AGAIN NOT HARD TO STRIP OR HACKSAW THE ALUMINUM NUT OFF) HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH THE TALL NUTS, THE ONLY THING I GOT RID OF WERE THE LOCK WASHERS THAT WERE PLATED STEEL AND SWITCHED TO STAINLESS STEEL ONES. HATE THE LOOK WITH STAINLESS STEEL STUDS AND RUST. HAVE 3400KMS AND HAVE HAD NOT ONE PROBLEM WITH THE STUDS, BUT USED THE WOODYS SINGLE /DOUBLE PATTERN WITH 162 ON THE ATTAK,
JP
