Tall nuts

studs

I went with 192 woodys gold diggers, single and double backers, no locite used, the big nuts have nylon in them, 2,000 miles and no breaks bends, or pull throughs,, look like the day I installed them.

Did you guys use lock tight on the tall nuts and lock washers?

When I ordered my nuts from Stud-boy they mentioned that the nuts were now nyloc so locktiting them was no longer necessary....which is cool because that is ALOT of loctite lol.

If you want woodys big nuts, which are aluminum, they are lighter than the std. steel nuts. I weighed them out on a digital scale in my chem class, haha

Use loctite on them when installing.

The only issue I had with my tall nuts, was I got in a hurry to install a bunch of them, and cross threaded one of them. Aluminum is obviously softer than steel, so you have to be careful to get them started squarely, and make sure the threads on the stud are good. Other than my stupid mistake, I'd never go with anything other than the tall nuts.

Last year I did an experiment. 144 sutds. 96 with tall nuts. 48 with regular nuts. 4,000 miles later. studs with the tall nuts-no bent studs. studs with the regular nuts-11 bent studs. Yes the tall studs do make a difference. By the way, no pull throughs.
