TD multi map

Yes you do loose rpm. I had a thread on here about that. Tested back to back 8jp and xs825. Belts ran the same speed just down 5-600 rpm
With xs. It’s a better belt that does not slip. I’ll empty the weights and try that and get a straight 35 helix on the way

Great, but I don't think it will be enough taking out the little tip weight and 35 helix. With that belt you may need the next step down in weights the 70's I mean. Typically the TD tunes don't carry the weight the Hurricane tunes do. TD runs the RPM's up higher than Hurricane and need lighter weights.

That XS belt changes the whole setup.

Had the first chance to get out and really whack the throttle today on the multi map. Running stock helix with dalton spring wrapped 70, as I like it, dalton DATy 1 with smallest slug bottomed out, even on max spool 17 only hitting 8800 then settled in 8350 8400. Power trial would run the same . Had heaviest slug in the weight when I got it back from the shop and would hit 8200 with those. I feel like something is not right. Running green dalton primary and xs825 belt. I think the lower rpm on the max and max spool 17 are because I’m only running mbrp trail with 2.5” outlet?? Sled is a stump puller and working good just not getting the 8800 wide open I’m looking for. Heard lots about coil bind on these in secondary what’s the symptoms of that and what do I look for on clutches. All rollers are mint, have CAI, blow off valve and 3 bar. Boost on max 17 settled in about 16.6 Would hit 17.4 when the rpm spikes at 8& then settle in when the rpm drop and settle. Do most of you guys not run the dtay1 full (biggest slug) and still pull rpm ? Thanks for some insight.

We have a similar set up. Fwiw before I pulled the trigger on my tune package I talked to Mike at TD and he recommended this TD clutch kit for running Max Spool 17: “Dalton 73g up to 285HP with both springs and HD rollers.”

I went with the 3” Intimidator exhaust and the header as well. I can’t tell you how any of this works because I haven’t even installed the parts yet. No snow here anyway. Been tuning my X3 with Evo parts the past week because it’s been 60 in northern Indiana ridiculous!

I think the wildcard for our sleds/setups like Mr. Knapp and you said will be the XS825 belt taking some RPMs. Please keep reporting your findings thanks!

I'm finding out the same thing. Thinking a stiffer finish primary spring might be the cheaper fix than a different set of weights. I like how well the xs grips but I have to sort out the rpm issue. Even though I'm low now I still pulled 123mph on GPS yesterday, 128 on speedo. Fastest I've been so far. RPMs are right around 8500. If I can get it back to 9k that should push it over 130. Didn't think that was possible on stock gearing but that's what the math is showing me.

As you are finding out, the XS belts GRIP and lower RPM. Since they grip and don't slip, belt temps are lower too. All good but need to adjust primary weight (lighter) to get RPM back. I especially like the XS grip on top end, belt low in secondary and high in primary. Heat makes them grip even better so back-to-back WOT they don't start to slip.

Stiffer finish on the spring is something I thought of as well

For snap corner to corner rev it higher.....then rev it closer to 8900 for the big trails, but the snap wont be there.

This is why the bundle tunes is so crucial IMO....you then get best of all worlds.

Ya,that ramp was a little heavy for my EVO stage 4 tune even when it had sandale 3"muffler on it. Now with td max 16 and mod muffler I will once more try your ramps,i have lightened them up by 2 grms, and will run empty with TP orange primary and his orange secondary wrapped at 60 on a Dalton 41/35 and have to see where my rpms appear at WO would like to see 8900-9000 if not I will lighten ramps again. Your pressure seems low for max 17 one would thing that should spike to over 20 out of the hole, than settle to 17.9 or more, our max 16 hits 17.5 and mine spikes to 20 on take off.

It spiked at 17.5 then settled with the rpm being low the boost was low. It makes sense. It’s all because I had the xs825. I had a thread about this b 4. In stock trim the xs is down 5-600 rpm vs the 8jp and it’s the same with the tune. Swapped back to 8jp lastnight for today’s ride in 10-12” of new powder. I expect the rpm to be back up. Will have to maybe grind material off the dtay’s to get revs back up as I’m not spending another 280$ on weights.

Your performance is the same with 825 belt at less rpms? So if that's the case why does it matter. It should make the belt last longer.

Yes,i hear ya brother, money is very tight now wife and I are retired, have time just not much for funds. That's what I did also, ground the middle of bottom of ramps,i tried to leave heel heavy, can always load mid and tip if needed, let me know how your rpms wake back up with 8jp,i think your pressure may have been effected by such a big rpm drop as well as speed. The max 17 tune when working correctly makes unreal power and speed.

Because when a tune is designed to run at a certain rpm and for whatever reason it does not run where it makes its power,it can be very bad for motor, makes more heat and may detonate because you are pushing more because its not running up to par,not what the tune was intended for, even being 400 rpms off,can be a problem.

Top speed was the same but now that the sled is tuned it throws the knock light at long WOT pulls because motor is lugging too hard needs to spin 8800+ I changed my belt back to the 8jP and was pulling good rpm yesterday

So after testing, it was the xs 825 bringing down rpm. Need to clutch significantly lighter for this belt. Me I will run the 8jp for this year and throw in the xs for our Sunday race your neighbors we do here. I ran the 8jp in 16” of fresh powder yesterday mostly on power trail and it was spinning 8800 in that so shoud be bang on when the groomers are done by Saturday night. The snow is FINALLY here in western NB and the groomers are out in full force
