Testing with TD GPS/Dragy

DMC, I thought you were running a 41/37? I was running the same. I was keeping a close eye on your posts as it seemed you had the plowed track near by. That's awesome! I'm jealous for sure! I got a short window of a week to run ice this year and it was on the smaller ponds due to some snow and wind reeking havoc on the big ponds this past winter. In Maine we had 18 inches of powder or moguls on the ice. There are zero trials around my area for running at speed. Everything is up north if we want to go fast. Anyway, I want to thank you for posting results throughout the year as you tuned your sled. Most guys want to keep their set up a secret! Although I want to thank guys for revealing...and they know who they are!
Keep us in mind next year as you bring your winder up to warp speeds!
Well said Fatchance,as even I have a house in southern Aroostook and had a very hard time with high speeds. Every time I would get to perry pond in benedicta,it was wind blown, and than rain beat it down some, and was only fast if you were willing to blow a track on the crappy sharp edged ice/snow,not what I was willing to do,i am a top end speed junkie, but I do ride with a friend, who cares less about it himself,so I cant mess around when with him, trying to find the best spot for speed,as it would not be fare to him, sience he is still working and I am retired. That poses another problem,my wife and family has fits when I go to camp by myself,as they know me lol and are afraid of something happening while out by myself, and yes I understand too, crap happens, even to the best people,God is still in control...lol

Absolutely! I mounted my TD GPS next to my seat heat switch in the cowling. Sleds not near me so no picture, but it's super easy to see and use after a run. I'm with you. I don't need to be the fastest but it's all about beating personal bests. And the rush of speed is just the best. Something we can't get anymore on local roads. Years back we could stop on the highway and race without worrying about any cars interfering. It's a different age today and these sleds provide an outlet that is a thing of the past!
Can't wait to see what next year brings!
Man,you are reading my mind, that is just how I feel too.

84 length chain
Hey brother,i found my cat bottom gear, its a 38 and p/n on it states 2602-372 A now I am not sure if that was the correct p/n to match up with yammie stock 21 or my cat top 22 gear, either way,it looks like I would need that 84 pitch chain,do you know if Yamaha makes a 15 wide in 84 pitch?

Nice testing and thanks for sharing... What exhaust? And assuming 8jp... Can you post a pic of Ulmer pink? Sounds similar to thunder orange primary?
steve the two springs are not even close in comparison. I have both springs, the tp orange is much higher shift, they are close to same height, but that's where it ends, the tp spring is low engagement, but still not as low as ulmer pink, the wire is much smaller on pink spring to,and it has been said, the rate is 30/90 the tp orange is said to be 40/143 I heard someone state last year.

I've had quite a few PMs asking if I was going to carry on with this testing I started last year so I may as well as it seems I have helped some.

I was hoping to have purchased a new 1" track but that didn't happen so I shaved down my stock 1.25" to around 1". I removed 48 studs and sharpened the remaining 144. The 3 or 400 Kms I've trail riden so far have dulled them up already.

I updated to the 3bar sensor therefore enabling me to get the max spool series of flashes.

I made pretty good progress last year and again I'm not a racer or radar runner. I just do this for fun and try to get faster and am only interested in pump fuel tunes. My goal is to see how fast I can get my trail sled without sacrificing the trailability.

So I made a couple runs last weekend with max spool 17 and immediately improved my times and speeds in 500, 660 and 1000' but my 1320 speed remained similar to my max17 speed of last year but I reached 1320' way quicker. This tells me that the TD max spool series of tunes really hit hard down low. Same clutching/gearing I ended with last year.

I have new gearing to go in 22/37 so we will see what gains can be had with them.
I also have the red cat secondary spring to try and a YSY Yamaha primary spring to try.

I do this testing with my TD GPS. There's no better tool in my mind for testing.

Figured I'd post up some of my results. I'm by no means a pro racer or radar runner or master clutch tuner for that matter, just enjoy trying to better my speeds.

This testing was with TD PT CAI tune 15 PSI average

Plowed track with 1-2 inches of fresh snow.

1.25 stock track with 192 dull megabites.
Suspension setup for trail riding.
Dalton Black/teal primary spring
Dalton DTYA1 weights
Dalton black/orange secondary spring @ 6-1.
Stock helix.
22/41 gearing.

210lb rider plus gear.

Clutches were nice and cool. Really impressed with the Dalton components.

RPMs 8950-9050

TD GPS
660' 101.8 mph
1000' 111.9 mph
1320' 117.1 mph
2000' 122.5 mph

I was hoping to run MAX 17 but found once I flashed the tune I could only pull 15.4 PSI of boost through my stock BOV. After speaking with SABER1100 and Mike from TD I reversed my BOV and was then able to see high 16s of boost.

I had half a tank of Shell 91 and half a tank of mobile 93 but seen knock right away so I aborted any runs. I was hoping to compare to my runs on PT CAI tune.

So I guess I need a turbosmart BOV if I want to run the upcoming MAX spool 16.

Cheers
Speeds in 660 and 1000 almost identical to what I ran today. You have a couple more at the 1/4 mile mark.
I was on the 260 setting with stock muffler and cai.

The only thing that looks suspicious is , 1-2 inches of fresh snow !
I haven't seen any in over a week or so !!!!!!!
Is that out back your place ?
Maybe by next week there will be more snow and more trails open , and may head up.

LOL that's from about 2 years ago!

Heading to the lake tomorrow with my dragy and a few secondary springs to try. Fleecer posted a gain in mph by just going from the dalton black orange to the stock yellow. I'll test it out and report back. I also plan on trying ulmers red and a yamaha pink I had laying around from my Nytro.

Going to try 24-37 gearing next week.

Running TD MS17 290 tune. Pump gas.

I really like the dragy. Attached run from the other day. Rolling start.
